I have a 1986 Bass Tracker with a 40 HP outboard hanging off the back of the transom. It came new with a transom saver and I always used it until it rusted away. I continued to trailer the boat until I notice a boat being trailered going down the road without a transom saver and that outboard was swaying up and down with every bump and dip in the road. The stress on that transom must have been enormous and I can only imagine the damage it was incurring. I immediately ordered and installed this transom saver on my Bass Tracker. It appears to be well made and well finished, so I'm expecting it to outlive the remaining life of the boat and trailer. It installed in 5 minutes by using the included mounting bracket and the existing hole drilled in the Tracker's trailer. It quickly and easily extends to the proper length for support and included a bungy cord to insure it stays in place. The V support that slips over the outboard has a nice, dense rubber support that absolutely won't cause any damage. This is another area where the original failed as the rubber had disintegrated. I haven't gone on an official fishing trip yet, but I did take a test drive by some family members looking for flex and it performed perfectly. If your transom save is bad or missing, invest in one of these and save your transom. It is money well spent.

I don't trailer my boat that often, so I was new to these transom saver devices. I'm preparing for a road trip to Florida, and was concerned about damaging the tilt/trim unit on my engine, so I ordered this device to offer some protection and peace of mind. I saw this device had two different mounting configurations, so I thought I'd be able to make it work with my trailer. When I went to see how it would fit I noticed two issues: 1. I don't have a roller so the roller mount was unavailable for me, 2. my trailer has a center light, which interferes with my ability to install the permanent bracket. I'm going to have to think some more about how to mount this with my boat, potentially installing something below my center light, or attempt to mount on the top of my cross member, but I'm concerned that it will not function properly here. The actual transom saver is built well, it just doesn't fit my application perfectly.

This adjustable transom saver comes with everything most boat owners would need to support their outboard motor in transit. It appears to be well made though I don't yet have an opinion on long term durability. In addition to being functional, this transom saver is attractive with a medium dark red finish. It comes with well designed, illustrated assembly instructions that are easy to read and easy to follow. A nice touch, the tools needed to assemble are included. The transom saver includes the parts necessary for two different mount methods. If your trailer has a center roller, the "U" shaped roller bracket is attached to the trailer side of the transom saver - just lift off to remove once the motor is raised. Without a roller on the trailer, you can bolt a mount bracket to the trailer. In this case, to avoid having the support extend behind the trailer, you can remove the spring clip that attaches the support to the trailer mount.

This is a great piece of kit. It comes with everything you need to use it right away. The roller mount and a trailer mounted quick connect for if you want to permanently install a fast connection to reduce the size of your transom saver. There's enough parts to install this transom saver, and repair a second older one with trailer side problems. It includes all the tools you need to assemble the transom saver in the configuration you want. You will need a drill and drill bit to install the quick connect on your trailer, if it did not previously have one. All the parts are made from good quality aluminum and steel. I really like that the ends are painted, and the bar is a bright yellow. It's also nice that they offer different colors of bars to suit you. The paint is tough enough, and the finish is good.

This transom saver is very good quality and well crafted. I actually got this as a spare. On time as I was going down the road with my boat, the transom broke. I did get a new one but I had been thinking of getting a spare to keep in the truck. And so I did. I will be testing this one out one my motor. When I do I will update my review. As far as the price goes it is very reasonable. **My rating system: 5 stars means it exceeded my expectations, 4 stars met my expectations, 3 stars falls short of my expectations, 2 stars is considerably below my expectations and 1 star not recommending product

Good replacement for our original transom saver that came with our boat. Very easy installation and keeps the motor from bouncing up and down when trailering. Will fit both roller type and trailer mounts. It is reasonably priced, especially considering how expensive a new motor can be, or even repairs to an older motor. It seems like it should last quite a while, particularly if you are using for only fresh water rather than salt.
