The glass broke on the mirror while I was trying to adjust it some more manually. The glass is very thin and the adjustment for the mirror is good enough.also the mirror moves a lot while driving down the road

I installed this on a Dodge Dakota rather than the Ram truck it was made for. The fit is really close, but not exact. I understood this would be the case when I bought them. The power adjustment functions are a seamless integration to the Dakota wiring but I had to add the blinker and mirror heater circuit to my vehicle. This in no way affects my rating of these mirrors. I did have to modify the mounting location on my truck to accept this mirror's hardware, and I had to modify the mirror mounting base and the reinforcement plate to fit my door. Once I completed the installation, I was pleased to see that the mirrors were solid and did not shake while driving down the road. They look good on the truck and provide the much-needed visibility that the factory sport mirrors lacked. These mirrors are the polar opposite to the Dakota sport mirrors; I use this truck to tow a travel trailer and I plain hate the strap-on tow mirror options. Are these mirrors great? Not really, but they are good. I wish these had an all-metal mounting base rather than the brass inserts molded into the nylon base. I think it is a delicate balance of getting the hardware tight so that the mirror is secure, but not so tight as to pull the inserts out of the base. The mirrors arrived well packed and were not damaged, and all the hardware was present. The mirror tilts out although it takes firm pressure to do so. Likewise, the mirrors will fold flat toward the door, requiring firm pressure. Maybe that is another balancing act to ensure the functions are there, but the mirror does not shake while driving down the highway. A factor in purchasing these mirrors was the cost; there are more expensive options available, but I was buying these with the goal of modifying them to fit a different vehicle than intended. So far, I am happy with the installation and function of these mirrors and would recommend them whether for the Ram vehicles they are intended. I would also recommend them for your Dakota/Durango as long as you realize you will have to modify both the mirrors and your doors. For those interested, the unobtainable factory wiring connectors are Yazaki 090-II series connectors. I just saved you several weeks of frustrated searching...you're welcome. ... show more

Mirror doesn't have enough adjustment when folded down I had to slot out the holes in the doors to try to rotate the mirrors some so I could see something besides the ground

This is the second time I have had to purchase this item. It arrives with just the mirror and adhesive disks. There are no install instructions. The first time I only scraped the adhesive from the oem mirror with a razor blade, then washed with dawn dish soap and water, and let dry. Then I applied the adhesive disks to the mirror and installed the mirror to the assembly. It only survived 1 winter before the adhesive came undone. This time after washing I wiped down both the assembly and back of the mirror with alcohol pads. I also applied the fists to the assembly and then pressed this mirror into the assembly. This alcohol prep and install method has created a much stronger feeling bond by the adhesive disks. ... show more

I’ve installed quite a few of these on customers trucks. I would say 75% of them fall off if you only use the double-sided tape. I put a couple of dabs of silicone on the backside to give it a little extra grip and no more complaints of them falling off. Make sure you scrape off the old glass with a flathead.
