Description

TotalBoat Special Brushing Thinner 100 is designed to be used with TotalBoat marine paints and primers. It improves flow for solvent-based TotalBoat paints applied by brush or roller. Use with TotalBoat Wet Edge topside paint, TotalGold, TotalTread non-skid paint, Underdog, KeelHauler, Spartan, Krypton, AlumiPaint AF, and Outdrive AF bottom paints. Note: we recommend using TotalBoat Epoxy Thinner 200 with TotalProtect Barrier Coat Primer and Aluminum Boat Carrier Coat. Slower drying properties allow Thinner 100 to provide improved flow and preserve the wet edge. This is an important consideration when painting in warm weather (over 75 F). Thinner 100 may also be used to clean painting tools and equipment quickly and easily. Thinner 100 is available in quarts and gallons. Compare to Interlux Brushing Liquid 333, and Pettit paint thinners. All TotalBoat marine products are developed by boaters for boaters, to provide great value and great results.

I have been making fishing nets lately and tried using Total Boat varnish as-is, full strength. But the runs were killing me. I am sure it's fine on a flat surface, but something like these, it is just too heavy and leaves horrible runs. So, I bought the brushing thinner and it really helped. I still have to be careful but a thin coat (especially with the gloss) is much easier to manage and much easier to keep a wet edge I can pull into. The full strength stuff dries in seconds here in Colorado, which is also a problem. ... show more

I was going to to spray Total Boat Gleam 2.0 on some high end canoe paddles. SoCal's AQMD prevent me from doing so, so brush it was. After prepping the paddles by sanding and cleaning up the dust, I applied Gleam, thinning with this thinner 50/50 for the first coat. The second coat was diluted 90/10 Gleam to SBT. The following 4 coats were straight Gleam. WOW! These paddles look as good as or better than the day I bought them. I was so impressed with the results, I used this on my front and a side door, as well as a piece of furniture. I'm restoring a Hammond Organ from 1927 that sounds great. I just ordered more Gleam for this project. The finished look is some of the best I've seen. Not a lot to say about paint thinner. The brand matches the spar varnish I recently purchased so it should work fine. But the packaging was exceptionally well put together. Heavy cardboard and tightly wrapped; looks like the packaging was from the manufacturer.
