I've been using total wireless for months. The price is great, and the coverage on the Verizon network is the best of all providers in the US. The downside is that they throttle their data speeds hard. It's not uncommon to only get 100-200kbps during the day. Also, their customer service is the worst in the business. However, there is always a tradeoff, and I'd rather have cheaper service with good coverage than always fast internet and first rate customer service. ... show more

This is not a review about the Total Wireless service as I have not had it for long enough to make a judgement on it. Focusing solely on the Bring Your Own Phone SIM Card activation kit, I had a very positive experience. It was quite easy to get the new SIM card into my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+. The printed instructions included in this kit are simple and direct you to their online BYOP setup. Once you get to the online instructions, they are quite straight forward and easy to follow to activate service through Total Wireless. I ported my number from Verizon Wireless and my phone was ready to go within about 5 minutes after completing the online setup process. The actual service through Total Wireless may or may not be good, but I cannot say at this time. The ease of the BYOP kit made switching a very simple experience. ... show more

    • Get this product only if you are useing there phones other phones to not port over well
This item does work with total wireless locked phones but only works partialy with a bring your own phone did get talk and txt but no data and the connection does use Verizon towers however there system is not good some sort of outage they said

I don't understand the hate on this. It all can be avoided with a little due diligence on the buyers part. If Verizon has good coverage in your area, you will be fine, if not then it won't, ask around. On the Total Wireless website, they can check via your phones IEMI number to see if it is compatible. I was paying $70 for 2 lines on Cricket and I made a mistake on the porting of my numbers to Total Wireless, the reps were very helpful in helping me fix the problem. I never had a problem with Cricket (AT&T) but 5gb per month more for $10 less is a deal in my book. Total Wireless also does not throttle your bandwidth. Also depending on your tax rate, Target may ave a better rate on refill cards than the auto fill discount. ... show more
