Description

Through a tale of celestial friendship, Total Solar Eclipse: A Stellar Friendship Story explores the awe-inspiring phenomenon of a total solar eclipse and the unexpected ways we shine together. Also available in Spanish as Eclipse total de Sol: Un cuento de amistad. Sun is seriously out of sorts about the upcoming total solar eclipse. Will Earthlings go blind watching it? What will they think when Sun's dependable light suddenly vanishes in the middle of the day? How could Moon betray their stellar friendship? When totality finally arrives and Moon completely hides our brightest star from millions of Earthlings in its shadow, no one is more surprised than Sun to find Moon helped it shine in a totally different way. "I wish my grandchildren would have had this book when the last eclipse passed over. They will certainly have it for the upcoming eclipse! From the beginning, safety is the rule as the author explains the importance of solar eclipse glasses. But the book goes beyond safety and the science of an eclipse. It’s also about envy, friendship, and what fun it can be for two, not just one, to share center stage. Total Solar Eclipse: A Stellar Friendship Story is a perfect introduction to solar eclipses for little ones.” -- MARSHA DIANE ARNOLD, MULTI-AWARD-WINNING PICTURE BOOK AUTHOR "Being an elementary school librarian and teacher, I love using books to prepare kids for new experiences. This book is an educator’s dream. It is full of vocabulary words and definitions that can lead to in-depth classroom discussions and projects." -- JOHN JANEZIC, ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LIBRARIAN "The author does an excellent job combining total solar eclipse information and safety with the social connections and struggles we all encounter when individuals and teams strive to work together. This book would be an excellent addition to any home or classroom library.” -- JODI BENSON, FORMER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL Read more

  • We “TOTALITY” enjoyed Jayme Sandberg’s book 🤗!n
Our 6th Graders thoroughly enjoyed this delightful book🤗We decided to create a YouTube video for the other classrooms in the school and taped (in one take) the story on Thursday. It was posted the next day, April 5 on our school district’s website. Since our schools are not in session on Monday, we had to have it ready for viewing before the COSMIC EVENT! We have received great responses because this book and its fabulous illustrations are STELLAR! Thank you to the author for granting us permission via an email (on Easter Sunday 2024 evening) to read her book online 🤗 What a fabulous enrichment project for us ! Thank you for writing your book…we loved it !! Victoria Lingner ... show more

  • Cute Story That Teaches Children About the Eclipse
I brought this book with us during our trip to see the eclipse in its totality. It was a great story to share with my toddler. While the book is geared towards children a little older than my 2-year-old, there were definitely still pieces of it she picked up really well and she even referenced the book when we were watching the eclipse. It's a fun and easy read! I especially liked the page in the back of the book that includes a section for the reader to add notes about when they viewed an eclipse! We made sure to fill it out after our trip and it will make a lovely keepsake for our daughter when she grows up. Would definitely recommend! ... show more

  • Excellent Resource for Young Children
As a teacher, I wanted a great way to introduce the concepts of the upcoming eclipse to my children at home. My kids, particularly my triplets who are 8, enjoyed the storyline while I enjoyed the information it presented. We were able to become familiar with what would be happening, what we would be seeing, etc. leaving us to just enjoy the actual moment/day without 1000 questions when I wouldn't be able to answer them in a timely manner. Even without an impending eclipse, this is a great book for kids, and especially for teachers. ... show more

  • A Good Classroom Book
My first-grade class enjoyed "The Solar Eclipse a Steller Friendship." It is about the solar eclipse. The characters Moon, Sun, Earth, and Comet did a good job teaching my students about the corona and safety glasses. The illustrations were clever because my students also learned how to write a friendly letter. "Total Solar Eclipse a Stellar Friendship Story" made my students feel safe. This story explains what would happen during an eclipse. My first grade recommends this book to anyone who wants to learn about a solar eclipse. We give Total Solar Eclipse five stars! Please note: My class helped to write this review as a class assignment. ... show more
