  • Great Beginner Guitar
Color: Matte Black
I have been wanting to learn how to play and so far, I am having a fun time with this guitar. The tone sounds very pleasing and the quality is top notch. It is very beginner friendly as I had no trouble at all getting everything tuned.

  • The Tostar Delivers!
Color: Matte Black
This is marketed as a “beginner’s guitar,” but don’t let that put you off—it offers much better performance than its price indicates. I was quickly impressed by its build quality and sound overall. Back in the day, I played in a cover band that helped me cover my college and graduate school expenses. My favorite guitar was a Fender Telecaster with humbucking pickups, which I played for years. I no longer own the Telecaster, so I decided to try this Tostar Stratocaster to keep my fingers in shape. The Tostar delivers! It tunes easily, feels comfortable to hold, is easy to play, and produces impressive sound. I was especially surprised by its light weight, thanks to the Eco-Composite body that reduces overall weight while maintaining durability and solidity. I haven’t yet fully explored how the material affects the tone. If I were still playing in a band, I’d improve the experience with new strings, better machine heads for tuning, and my choice of professional pickups. But none of that is necessary if you’re just getting started. This is an excellent guitar for any age and a great value. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Tostar Strat: hard pass unless you've got skills...
Color: Matte Black
I returned this guitar b/c the bridge is at least 1/8 inch too far down on the body which makes it impossible to intonate and that the pickups were very noisy even when grounded. One would have to re-drill the body to move the bridge up or file notches in a couple saddles so that they could move up over the bridge mounting screws. Also, probably completely re-solder the electronics and add grounded shielding. ... show more

  • A really, really good guitar. Beautiful color too!
Color: Metallic Blue
I didn’t expect much when I ordered this guitar, mostly because of the price. Turns out I was wrong. The first thing I noticed was that it actually feels like a real instrument, not a beginner toy. It has some weight to it, the neck feels solid, and nothing rattles or feels loose. I spend most of my time just sitting on the couch watching TV or surfing the net. So, this guitar is my attempt to challenge my old brain and learn something new. When I am practicing, it is comfortable enough that I don’t think about it while I’m playing. The neck shape works for me, and I’m not fighting the strings or stretching awkwardly. That alone made a difference in how long I practice. it really is quite comfortable to learn on. What surprised me most was the sound variety. Flipping through the pickup positions actually changes the tone in a noticeable way, which makes learning more fun. I can mess around with cleaner sounds one minute and something heavier the next without feeling boxed in. YouTube has been an amazing teaching resource. I am in love with the sky blue color, which again, makes me want to practice. I can't walk by it without wanting to pick it up and play. There are no inconsistencies or marks on the finish. The quality is evident even though it is NOT a brand name. I have some accessories, neck strap, strings, picks, tuner, from a friend so I am good to go for a while. It would have been nice if it included accessories but it's a nice guitar, and I would not return it for a brand that includes accessories. It feels like something I can keep playing as I improve instead of replacing it right away. For someone starting out, or even someone who just wants a decent, affordable electric guitar for a little variety in thier exisitng lineup, I think this is a good buy. ... show more

  • Excellent beginner electric guitar, doesnt come with amp
Color: Matte Black
My husband has been learning acoustic guitar for a while now and when this electric guitar came up as an opportunity to test how we like it, we were excited to try! As beginners, we dont have a ton of knowledge, but please be aware that you do need to buy your own amp. Otherwise this guitar is great for beginners, amazing price for a high quality instrument. It looks really sweet, not that that matters much! The sizing is versatile enough for my full grown husband to easily use as well as my tween (though she is abnormally large for 11). We are so excited to add this guitar to our collection of instruments and if you are thinking about trying electric guitar, this is a perfect choice so it doesnt hurt financially too bad if you end up not liking it! ... show more

  • Not an original strat but what is not to like?
Color: Matte Black
I had an original strat (#1604) and sold it decades ago. My son plays guitar and has an acoustic Taylor that cost many thousands of dollars. My grandsons are 10 and 11 - the older one has a drum set that (mercifully) plays no noise other than through his headset. I have seen the younger one look longingly at his fathers Taylor that they can't touch and another cheaper acoustic guitar that is also off limits. So I ordered this item so when GS2 (grandson 2) is at our house he has something to hook into my Fender Full Chorister amp. It's not my strat but then again nothing will ever be that axe again. The only thing lacking in this one was the starburst color scheme (although Fender did make an all black strat) and I found it interesting that while it has the tremolo bridge (twangy arm) it doesn't have the metal bridge cover that came with every strat. Truth be told that most of the bridge covers fell off or got lost along the way but that to me is a minor oversight in this reproduction. All in all it is very well packaged and a very nice instrument. If it doesn't sound "right" and GS2 continues to play I will invest in some original Fender pickups to make it sound better. All in all this is a very nice guitar to have and I'm glad (very glad) that I ordered it. ... show more
