In 1925, Rinaldo and Ezilda Torre visited family in Lucca, Italy. The two returned home to their native San Francisco with something very important: handwritten recipes, which they used to create authentic flavored syrups. These syrups helped Rinaldo and Ezilda reintroduce the Italian soda to their neighborhood. Years later, our syrup was used to create the world’s first flavored latte! We’ve remained a family-owned company -- adhering to the high quality standards that Rinaldo and Ezilda set over 90 years ago. Each and every syrup, sauce, and smoothie is created with care and pride. That’s a promise from our entire family -- including the more than 100 members that make up the Torani team. We started with just five syrups, and have since grown to a portfolio of over 150 sold around the globe. That’s a lot of flavor! Once upon a time, Starbucks had a drink called Mocha Valencia on the menu, and I would treat myself to one every couple of weeks. Then one day, the item disappeared of the menu, thought the baristas mostly still knew how to make it. Those baristas, though, are as long gone as the Mocha Valencia. Now I make my own, using a close copy of the original Starbucks recipe. I coat the sides of a tall glass with Hersey's chocolate syrup, pump 2 to 4 squirts of Torani orange (using this pump on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AXSG2Q?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00). Add your favorite coffee (I find something strong and bitter best balances the sweetness), and instant Mocha Valencia! Adjust the chocolate and Torani to suit your taste (a little goes a long way, and it can easily become WAY too sweet). I absolutely love the syrup, and it works in more than just coffee: 1. A little milk, some sparkling water and Torani, and you have an instant creamsicle Italian soda 2. Add some to pancake mix and give your waffles or pancake a flavored twist 3. Great taste! I use it in tea and for homemade ice cream along with vanilla ice cream, think "creamsicle" ~yum!

When I used to order my mocha at the local very popular coffee house, I'd have them add a pump of orange. Then they discontinued the flavor, for some reason. Fast forward a couple of years and I now make my own mocha at home, plus, of course a pump of Torani Orange Syrup! It has a somewhat candy orange flavor, but I suspect that it's the exact same stuff that the coffee house used to use. Mmmmm Orange! ... show more
