  • Great book of Easy Play songs
If you like great 70's and 80's rock, you'll love this book. Nice variety of songs (Eagles, Van Morrison, Led Zep, etc.) and Dan Coates does an awesome job of arranging songs to make them sound good, but still Easy Play. I have several of his books and I love them all. It's a few steps above beginner, but not hard for intermediate player. ... show more

  • Good Variety
A lot of well-known songs/ artists featured in this song book. A lesser skilled book for sure, intermediate, but there is still a variety of lesser & more difficultness throughout the book. Some of the songs are odd when played out from being transposed to piano. Definitely has an alfred feel. Has some finger numberings throughout songs. Also includes the lyrics to the songs. I enjoy this song book! I picked up playing the piano as a hobby after not playing since learning as a teenager. This book has given me some fun songs to practice. -a very casual, intermediate pianist ... show more

  • Look at song list and sample pages before you buy
I considered different rock/pop collection books before settling on this one. I adore Dan Coates Giant Book of Christmas music, and have several others of his but this one doesn't quite measure up for me. There are many, many arrangements that are chord based - one of the sample songs shows this clearly (Look Inside photos). I found the book has many songs like this - too many for my taste. I also have his Ballad book and have been working with it but rarely play from the Rock collection. Fortunately this is a book for someone out there - it is a terrific collection, but just not for me. ... show more

  • Fun to play!
As the title says, these are easy to learn and fun to play. The arrangements are nicely done - they sound like the song and aren’t so simple that it’s not enjoyable.

  • Excellent book
Great arrangements, middle of the road intermediate level. My students love the songs in this book.

  • Buy this so many great pieces
I love this piano book . So many great songs and they are easy to intermediate . It’s a hit st parties and for me it’s great since I haven’t played in ages and I can practice fun songs with ease .

  • Great Eagles, Springsteen, Journey classics
This book is chockful of great songs written in easy to play keys. I especially enjoy the Eagles, Springsteen, and Journey hits included in the book. Whiter Shade of Pale(Procul Harum) is easy to play, but captures the baroque feel of the original. When I hunt for piano books on the Internet, I use Dan Coates as a search parameter. He arranges great songs from all eras with enough complexity so that they don't sound like single note "fake book" arrangements. Only weakness is binding. If you want to play from this book, get it spiral bound at your nearest office supply store. Best $5 you'll ever spend ! ... show more

  • Songs are composed in the wrong key
The arrangements are easy for beginner to intermediate players. But the songs are in the wrong key so nothing sounds like the original music. Not sure why Dan Coates didn’t compose the music in the correct key. I stopped playing from this book. I found arrangements in the correct keys on other sources. ... show more
