  • Easy to Use Electric Furnace for Hobby Metal Casting
Color: US
I picked this up for melting scrap aluminum and copper for small casting projects, and it has been a great addition to my workshop. Setup was straightforward, and the controls were easy to understand even without much prior experience. The furnace heats up quickly, and the digital temperature control makes it simple to adjust for different metals. The included starter kit was a nice bonus because it had everything I needed to begin using it right away. The furnace feels sturdy during operation, and I appreciate the stable design, which adds confidence when working with high temperatures. For hobbyists and beginners, this is much more convenient than larger fuel powered furnaces. There is no need to deal with propane tanks, loud burners, or open flames, making it easier to use for smaller projects. It has enough capacity for melting a good amount of metal at once while still being compact enough to store when not in use. One area that could be improved is the durability of the consumable parts, especially the crucible, since those can wear over time with repeated high temperature use. Following the recommended preheating and maintenance steps helps extend its lifespan. If you are looking for an electric furnace for jewelry making, metal casting, or melting scrap metal as a hobby, this is a solid choice. It is easy to operate, heats efficiently, and offers good value for anyone getting started or looking to upgrade from a smaller unit. ... show more

  • Solid home smelting setup that actually delivers
Color: US
I've been using this furnace for a few weeks now to melt down aluminum scrap and some old jewelry pieces and I'm really impressed with how well it works. The 5kg capacity is legit, I can throw in a decent batch of cans or castoffs and not have to babysit multiple small loads. Heating up takes a bit longer than I expected, probably closer to 50 minutes for a full crucible of aluminum, but once it gets there it holds temperature really consistently thanks to the PID controller. The LED display is bright and easy to read from across my workshop which is nice since you don't want to be hovering right next to this thing. The included graphite crucible, tongs, and gloves meant I could get started right away without hunting down accessories separately. One thing I will say is the learning curve on dialing in exact temperatures took me a couple tries, the knob is a little touchy and I overshot my target the first time. The hex base keeps everything stable during pours and those stainless handles give me confidence when I'm moving the lid around. Overall this has become my go to setup for small batch metal recycling at home and the build quality feels solid enough that I expect it to last. ... show more

  • Great Performance, Limited Lifespan
Color: US
This furnace does a great job for smelting and reaches temperature quickly. The 5kg capacity is convenient, and it performs well for melting metals efficiently. The controls are straightforward, and it gets the job done without much hassle. My only complaint is durability. While it works well when it’s running, these furnaces don’t seem to last as long as I would expect with regular use. If you’re using it occasionally, it may be a good option, but heavy users should be aware that longevity could be an issue. Overall, it’s a capable furnace with solid performance, but I wish it were built to last longer. ... show more

  • Unusable out of the box, unsafe build quality, could not melt copper
Color: US
Crucible will not drop into the furnace as the top ceramic ring and inner mantle are assembled out of alignment. That alone is a deal breaker, as the furnace cannot be used. The steel top also has razor sharp edges all around, and looks like it was filed into shape by an unskilled worker with an angle grinder. The outer shroud is missing screws--which were stripped and fell out in transit. Crucible tongs don't fit the supplied crucible; the radius of the end of the tongs is clearly meant for a smaller crucible and can't safely hold the 5kg crucible. Update: I tested this to see if it could even do what I needed: melt copper fittings and pipe scraps into ingots. It could not. I also tried pure casting grain. I tried melting approx 1 pound of copper and after 1.5 hours at the maximum setting of 1200C (attained according to LCD display), I had only a glowing lump of mush. It did not reach liquid state and was clearly at a steady state, with no visible change in the last 40 minutes or so of this test. Disappointing. The red-orange glow was also well short of the near-yellow glow I expect when melting copper and copper alloys; it just isn't getting hot enough. If you only need to melt lead, tin, zinc, or aluminum alloys, this may suffice, build quality not withstanding. For copper, brass, bronze.. no go. It's advertised to work for gold and silver too, but if you have enough gold to fill a 5kg crucible, this isn't the tier of furnace you should be looking at. ... show more

I got this a while back to melt down some scrap copper and aluminum I had and it definitely got the job done. Great capacity for what I need and heats up surprisingly quick. It's pretty easy to understand after reading through the instructions, and I like the starter kit that came with it. definitely worth the money. ... show more

  • Very happy with it
Color: US
This furnace has been a great addition to my workshop. It heats up reliably and reaches temperature without a lot of waiting around. The digital controls are straightforward to use, and the display makes it easy to keep an eye on the temperature. I like that everything needed to get started was included in the kit. It feels sturdy, well built, and has handled multiple melting sessions without any issues. Very happy with how it has performed so far. ... show more

  • Recommend for Beginners.
Color: US
As someone who has a lot of scrap copper and silver, I needed a convenient way to make ingots. I don’t like running propane smelters as it’s loud and dangerous. This is way easier in many ways, at the trade off of speed and size. That’s a trade off I’m willing to make in favor of ease of use as it works for my metals either way. I recommend this for beginners like me. ... show more

  • Great melting furnace.
Color: US
I bought my TRF5000 back in March, upgrading from a smaller furnace and this is a great machine. It get hotter, faster and is amazing. I have been using ToAuto as my furnace supplier for two years now, and they are easy to work with and have great customer support. 10/10 would buy again.
