Rounded curved top surface allowed it to hold down the drip line without pressing into it and the length was perfect to secure it without having to press too deep and interfere with tree roots and not be able to put into the ground!!! These are OK staples, but as someone who works in landscaping, I wouldn't purchase these again. First, there is no need for landscape staples to be anti-rust. With commercial landscape staples, the rust that forms on the outside creates more friction and keeps whatever is being stapled in the ground better. Second, the gauge of these staples is not as substantial as it needs to be—when using a mallet they bent even when they didn't hit anything in the ground. Third, they are quite pricey for these few staples. I understand that this is retail, and these would be fine for a small application, but I would go for an iron or steel staple of a thicker gauge. ... show more
