When you buy this item you must remove the preset threaded inserts on the 5 shelces and drill a 1/4 inch hole clear through the shelve through the already existing holes very gently. Then buy 10 1/4 inch 2" long bolts and matching nuts and washers. The screws and insets supplied are useless. You must use a nut and bolt or it will not work. They will not hold the weight and will fail. Your shelving will now hold a ton and be very sturdy and worth it. The manufacturer would be better off supplying a decorative bolt head or a nice color matching flush mounted bolt with washers and nuts and predrill the holes through the shelves but mine will do because its what I had and I'm happy now. I gave it a good review because bottom line if I had to purchase all this separately, shelving etc. it would probably cost more and it looks nice. ... show more

If you don't mess it up while putting it together and you don't have children that might touch it, then it's pretty good for the price. Unfortunately, I stripped out several of the holes while assembling it. Very easy to do that btw. So make sure you are solely focused on assembly and have no distraction. Make sure you don't let the shelf move even a hair after you have screwed in one side or you will pull the screw out of the wood. I used wood glue and shoved it back together, and I made sure to put books on those shelves that would never be read so there would be no reason to touch those shelves ever again. I think that might have solved my problems. Otherwise, looks pretty good for the price. ... show more

    • Fragile shelves but great aesthetic!
I love how this shelf looks! It’s perfect for my office and the colors are so nice. I was pretty disappointed with the shelves though. The shelves are designed to be held in place by the vertical bars and then sit on top of two small horizontal bars where they’re screwed into place. The fasteners to hold the shelf on the horizontal bars stripped right out of the shelf and had to be glued back in to use the shelf. This happened to 2 of the 5 shelves so that was disappointing. I would not say this shelf is very sturdy or heavy duty as it comes. It needs extra bracing to hold heavy objects or a shelf full of books. ... show more

I got two of these shelving units. They were pretty easy to assemble. Just remember you can only put lighter weight objects on these. They are perfect for my small apartment. I think the attachment to the wall is pretty sturdy.

Took 2 weeks to deliver. Comes in 1 box. I don’t like the big silver metal screw that show on the side and the top only has brackets for the wall, not the bottom. So if I was to go over there and lightly kick the bottom, the whole bottom would move away from the wall. That is concerning when you put delicate or important things on your shelf. that is very concerning. Overall it’s an ok product but I wouldn’t purchase again. ... show more
