At first these socks seem comfortable but after only a couple hours of wear I notice the top really cuts in. Even if you roll the sock down, it's really tight on the mid or lower calf and I don't have large calves by any means. These socks are a nice quality and design. They don't feel cheap but they're thinner than I expected. I guess being Timberland brand, I was thinking they'd be thicker for the winter, but they can be worn in winter or spring. This is a good thing. They provide good stretch but these are not made for someone with a wide calf to wear comfortably without digging into the leg. Yes, they have good stretch, but not that much. If you're a wide-calfed person (man or woman), I would steer away from these. My son really likes these. He said they feel great and fit him perfectly. He's 6'8" tall. Me, not so much. I'm a wide-calf girl and while I can get them on, they are just too tight at the top for me. ... show more
