Uppers made with premium 100% waterproof leather from an LWG Silver-rated tannery. TimberDry eco-conscious waterproof membrane. Fully gusseted tongue. Removable anti-fatigue footbed. Compression-molded EVA midsole. 15% recycled rubber outsole. Imported. Shaft measures approximately 5" from arch. Heel measures approximately 1.5". Platform measures approximately 1". They fit perfectly. I for my husbands usual size and there has been no issues aside from me having to tell him not to ruin them. We aren't hikers or anything extravagant like that. I got them for him to go with his clothes and for winter. But he likes them. So much so he though he was going to wear them to work on a vehicle and I said "absolutely not". I didn't spend the $ on them to be rolling around on the dirty, dusty garage floor. If you wear thick socks, I think you will okay to purchase your size but maybe purchase a size up if your worried? ... show more

Read this if you are wanting to buy for heavy use! These boots are very comfortable, waterproof, and lightweight. I bought them to work in 8 hours a day and they did not hold up well. The rubber on the sole that wraps around the toe started peeling back after 30 days of light use (see picture). I took pictures and submitted to timberland warranty and they quickly replaced the boots no problem, but then the same thing happened again to the new pair. I still wear them a year later (water comes in through the toe) and have some serious wear on the soles and will need replaced soon. For the occasional hike they are probably a fantastic buy, but I wouldn’t buy again for work or even as an avid hiker I would be concerned about their longevity. I would recommend these to someone who might lightly use them but do not expect to get a lot of wear out of them or to try and use as a work boot before the issue with the sole pops up. ... show more

Fit - A perfect fit Quality - Excellent quality just like I have come to expect from Timberland boots Comfort - You know that warm happy feeling you get when you curl up on the couch with a hot cup of tea during a spring rain? Yeah... that but for your feet. Price - Worth every penny I have shopped and worn lots of different brands of boots and, after learning my lessons, keep going back to Timberland. I have owned and still own several pairs that have not just been comfortable but durable! I am not talking months... I mean YEARS. These are my 4th pair in 25 Years. Yup... I still own the other 3 pairs: 1 pair for hiking, 1 pair for working at home (garage, yard, construction, projects, etc., and 1 pair are field boots for work (on-site visits with contractors, fieldwork, etc.) THESE are my city hikers. I wear these when I don't even need to wear boots. They are in fact waterproof, I put them to the test several times. They stand out for their comfort level. I don't need to wear boots to work but I wear these because they feel great to walk in. Very light weight and they feel like a perfect fit.

I've been buying this particular boot for many years. Good fit, good traction, good durability. Note that the tongue is permeable, so your feet will get wet if you go into water above the laces.
