  • Good for cats with stones, and some cats with ingredient intolerance
Flavor Name: Chicken Size: 10oz. (8-Pack)
What I like: high in protein, lean meat, no fish (fish is a controversial food for cats, so to be safe I don't give it to mine), grain and potato free. What I don't like: price and long ingredient list. I am breaking up my review into a few parts, and you can read whatever is important to you. The 2nd paragraph is specific to my cat who had bladder stones, the 3rd paragraph is about my two cats with intolerance to certain ingredients, and the last paragraph is my final thoughts. DISCLAIMER: I am not a veterinarian, so keep that in mind. I bought this specific brand and flavor for my male cat Zeke after he developed and passed bladder stones. There are two types of stones- one can dissolve if the cat is fed the right kind of food, and one requires surgery. The vet recommended a prescription diet to see if the stones would dissolve without the need for surgery. Luckily they did. The vet told me that Zeke would have to stay on the prescription diet for life to ensure the stones wouldn't come back. This made me upset, because if you look at the ingredient list on the prescription food, it's pretty bad. So I decided to self educate. What I read (again, disclaimer that I am not a vet), is that a prescription diet has no actual prescription. It's not medicated. What makes prescription diets special and why vets recommend them is that they carefully control percentages of ingredients, proteins, minerals, and vitamins. The recommended percentages for felines with stones is pet food that has a high water content (no dry food), has a phosphorus level under .5% , a protein level of around 35%, and a sodium level of .2% or less. I kept Zeke on the prescription diet for 3 months, and then I made the conscious choice to take him off of it. I still keep a case of prescription diet on hand just in case I notice his symptoms coming back, but it's been a year now, and he has done well on the Puka Puka Luau. I chose this brand and flavor because it blended the needs of 2 of my cats. It is low in phosphorus and sodium for Zeke with his stone issue (both levels under 1%), but very high in protein for my cat with intolerance to certain ingredients (82%). It's been a year now, and Zeke has not had a recurrence of stones. I emphasize that I made a personal and informed decision to take my cat off of the prescription diet. Do your own research and consult with your vet. Stones can be deadly to your cat, so I don't want to be held responsible by anyone who decides to switch their cat to this food based off of my review. I did what I felt was right for my cat, but I kept in contact with the vet as I did this, and I kept the prescription food on hand as a failsafe. I have two cats who are litter mates- the male is Rowan and the female is Freya. They both have grain and starch intolerance, as well as additional intolerance to some elusive ingredient(s) that I can't figure out. They are also both obese. Freya's intolerance has always been worse than Rowan's. This brand and flavor doesn't work for Freya, who has soft stool and gas when I tried her on the Puka Puka Luau. Rowan does very well on this flavor. With a cat that has intolerance to certain foods, a limited ingredient diet is best. There are way more ingredients in the Puka Puka Luau than I am happy with, but for Rowan at least, it works. He has also slimmed down a very little bit because this food is high in protein and low in carbs. He'd probably slim down even more if I could get him to move, but his idea of playtime is to lay down and nuzzle toys. He goes away to pout if I try to make him chase his toys. Freya, unfortunately, has to remain on her old food and is still extra chubby despite the fact that I don't overfeed her. Conclusion: this food is about as good as canned food can get. It's a great option for cat owners who want to feed their pets well, and who can afford the crazy price of healthy food. For me personally, price has been really hard on my wallet. Once I move to my new apartment, I won't have neighbors on either side of me to complain about noise. I am buying a meat grinder and will go off of a vet recommended recipe for homemade raw cat food. For anyone who got to the end of this review, please do extensive research before switching to homemade. Lack of research and vet consultation can lead to homemade food that will harm your pet. ... show more

  • Cats love it, health is better.
Flavor Name: Succulent Chicken Size: 2.8 Ounce (Pack of 12)
I switched my cats to this and another limited ingredient food after buying Blue Buffalo for years. The difference in my cats health is astonishing. They're gaining lives, not losing them! I've tried them on about 8 flavours and they eat them all. It's well tolerated and they eat every bit of it. It's a bit pricey but I believe in prevention. Keeping them healthy makes me feel good and costs less in the long run with less vet bills. ... show more

Flavor Name: Variety Pack Size: 2.8 Ounce (Pack of 12)
I can't say enough good things about Tiki Cat Food! My feline friend has been enjoying this high-quality food for a while now, and the results speak for themselves. First and foremost, my cat's health and well-being have greatly improved since switching to Tiki Cat Food. The ingredients are top-notch, and you can actually see the real chunks of meat and fish in every can. It's reassuring to know that my pet is getting the nutrition he deserves. Not only has my cat maintained a healthy weight, but his coat is shinier and softer than ever before. His energy levels have soared, and he's more playful and active than I've ever seen him. I attribute all of this to the quality ingredients packed into Tiki Cat Food. I appreciate that Tiki Cat Food is grain-free and made without any artificial additives or fillers. It's a brand I trust for my cat's nutrition, and I've seen the positive impact it has had on his overall health. If you're looking for cat food that goes above and beyond in terms of quality and nutrition, I highly recommend Tiki Cat Food. • Picky eater approved
Flavor Name: Succulent Chicken Size: 2.8 Ounce (Pack of 12)
I was disappointed that Felix turned his nose up to the chicken food topper, but this canned food he seems to enjoy. I hope he continues to enjoy it, because I won't be buying any more of his big name food. I read the ingredients and was very angry to see animal byproducts, blood, salt, sugar and a ton of chemicals. It was also putting a dangerous amount of weight on him very quickly. With the better recipe that this product has. He should be fully satisfied by less, like his dry food. I tell everyone to do the research on what you are feeding your pets. You have no problems reading ingredients for yourself and your family. Extend that care to your fur babies too. You will be amazed at what you find. Uh-oh, update. This food may be a little too rich for him. He has developed mind numbing gas and the litterbox is toxic. It looks like the night shift- ferals, opossums, raccoons and skunks, are going to be getting this now. Even with the window open, Felix is just too potent to be around. ... show more

  • Raw Diet for 9 years then switched to this
Flavor Name: Variety Pack Size: 2.8 Ounce (Pack of 12)
Our two Siamese ate Primal raw from 6mo. until 9yrs old. It's a pretty rough raw diet and, after almost a decade on it, they were finding it harder to dig into it. Sometimes they would throw it up. We wanted something easier for them to eat, but still raw/healthy. We tried the Tiki variety pack and they loved all the flavors. ... show more

  • Good value.
Flavor Name: Variety Pack Size: 6 Ounce (Pack of 8)
These are mostly great. Only reason I give it a 4 star is because of the tilapia flavor. Not only are they not the best fish to consume but the can smells bad and looks worse. My cat still loves it but I just don't like giving it to him which makes this less of a value for me as there are at least 2 cans that I won't be using. With that said, If you don't care about that and your cat is a fish lover (mine isn't) this is going to be a great value for you! Tiki Cat is my favorite brand and I love nearly every other product they offer but the tilapia could use some work... but that is just my opinion. Overall, this is good quality food and is a much needed upgrade over the cheaper wet food and dry foods out there. ... show more

  • My cats really like this food.
Flavor Name: Succulent Chicken Size: 2.8 Ounce (Pack of 12)
My cats like this food. I have been looking for pet food that does not contain the thickener carrageenan. So many do. If I remember correctly, this one does not contain it. All my 5 cats like this food. I just wish it was cheaper, but then none of them are anymore.
