  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Not well made - but as "fun" as you remember.
I see these being sold and scalped everywhere. They're overpriced as it is. These should be $10 at the MOST. Not $15 like they're selling for. And certainly not $50 like some scalpers are asking. It's a neat nostalgic gift to give but they're not made well at all. It's crazy to think back on the Tiger handhelds made in the 90's and think "Wow, these are really well built" because these rereleases are not. I've had to return/exchange a few of these (buying the 4 rereleases for myself and others as gifts) because either the screen was damaged and had weird stains/bubbles on them or because the plastic itself was all scratched up and scuffed with colored marks (I've seen black and blue) - specifically on the battery cover for some reason. And I'm seeing a lot of other reviews saying the same. The games themselves are hardly games. But you're not buying these for the mind blowing gameplay. You're buying them because you had them when you were a kid and you want to play these awful games again. They're all high score style games and they are fun to play in short bursts. I will say however I was always really impressed by these. It's such a primitive and limited technology - basically a calculator - and they made a video game out of it. That's crazy to me. They used every last millimeter of the screen - packed it full of tiny images that light up when they need to. That's incredibly creative to me and I have a soft spot for these. But there's no reason why they should be damaged while they're new in the box. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars A $15 kick in the nostalgia
I bought this for the nostalgia to be perfectly honest, I had a few of these as a kid and thought it'd be fun to revisit them and see the confused look on my kids faces. Why would anyone play this over a modern game console? The presentation is fantastic seeing the old Transformers G2 logo is great. The game itself has more to it then I thought. You play as Optimus across 4 levels. You must drive forward in truck mode to get to the boss at the end of level, decepticons popping up all over forcing you to transform and blast them as a robot. You have at your call an Autobot Ally once per level to help you out. With a little (a lot) of graphical updating This would actually make a pretty fun mobile game. I don't know why this is suddenly $30 as of writing this review, it's definitely not worth that. But for $15 I enjoyed it and my kids despite the looks of disbelief have actually been playing it quite a bit. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars LCD gaming is back!
This thing is awesome! This is a picture-perfect reprint of the original game from the early 1990s, looks and works just like the original and obviously made from the same molds and materials. Perfect collectible for retro gamers that grew up in the 80s and 90s, fun game too! There are many other reprints from Tiger like this, highly recommended! ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Fun nostalgia
I'm a lot better at these games now than when I was a kid! XD This Transformers game is pretty simple, but fast paced enough that it's actually a little hard to focus on the enemy details. The "call" feature is interesting, but not that useful. Just a tip, you have to hold down the directional pad for a second while in truck mode to progress forward. Only 4 stages, so it's short. Definitely worth the price though if you like the old LCD games. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great for kids 8 and up
Bought this item for 8 year old who had fun with it and soon mastered it. Great, inexpensive toy to keep pre-teens amused for a while. Also gave one to 5 year old who struggled with it. You have to supply the required batteries (2 AA).

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the price....
I loved Tiger handheld games when I was a kid in the late 80's and 90's. I was excited to find this for my 10 year old. He's a big transformers kid, and has ended up loving this game. I love playing it too. Totally worth the price and fun to relive the Tiger game experience.

Great throw back to the old school days. Glad to have my hands on this one again. Fun to play and the kids enjoy playing on car rides.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars A great gaming device!
The device brings back great memories of gaming when I had a few as a child. It’s perfect to carry around to play wherever I go. Very entertaining with each play. Although there are more so called sophisticated gaming devices out there, this one wins for nostalgia reasons alone, and simpler times of days gone by. ... show more
