Why is this not a normal boot? Well, if you are a shoe person at all, I'll tell you in a second. If you just want to slap these on and roll, know that Thursday and their products are awesome. Also, know that their "half size down" sizing was accurate for me.. I tried several, and stuck with this original recommendation. Now for some juicy details (which I'm only able to bring to you because a guy on YouTube cut one in half) *go check it out, very cool*. First off, pros: - Quality, supple leather uppers - Relatively short break-in time - Goodyear welt construction (superior to Blake stiching for water resistance and reworkabiility *resole friendly* - Leather soles with proprietary grips - STACKED LEATHER heel block, good for longevity and comfort, made of lesser materials (like compressed cardboard) from other companies. - long, sturdy laces - cork filling - classy look/silhouette - sturdy hooks/hardware - great return/exchange policy, which is great for ordering online. The cons: - the leather creases fairly quickly, because it is so supple. I'd invest in boot trees (the pair from Stratton fit perfect) - it's not a "true" cap toe, they mill down one layer to seamlessly blend in with the next, unlike a traditional cap toe being two full layers. - the black oils on this pair were laid on thick enough that they'll stained my fingers after putting them on and feeling the leather. Might stain light colored pants. - sizing was a little inconsistent from boot to boot. Tried my size in a different color before this one, left boot was more snug than the right, then that reversed when I got the second pair. Other info: - These are made in Mexico, but they do have a Made in USA line on their website for less than a third of the price more. - they are "designed to fit snug, but not uncomfortably tight".. mine felt tight walking around for the first few wears, then they got exponentially more comfortable. These have quickly become my favorite shoes to wear, they get more comfortable after every outing. They look great, they feel great, and at this price, you get some premium options that even some $400 shoes don't have. ... show more

1st day/wear thoughts. So much leather! Quality leather, great color, with the perfect weight, not heavy at all on my feet yet still feel very sturdy. When first putting them on they were a little tight (I got a half size under my normal) after an hour of walking they are quite comfortable. Fits very well out of the box, minimal break in pains. Simple care has kept these looking sharp years after purchase, though I would recommend an after market insole. They come with solid ones, but they break down after a few months.

Size: 11 Color: Brown
Purchased these in brown, 11M. The brown color of this boot also appears burgundy, something I'm not exactly excited about, but oh well. These boots in the brown leather requires a break-in period. I estimate from about 1 to 2 weeks. I wore these about the house to break them in. The tongue of the boot gave me the most problems initially because the sort of dun into my shins on both legs (day 1 only.) Now I have to adjust the tongue every so often because they tend to slide towards my small toe on both feet. The craftsmanship of the boot is very good, while the materials themselves are good. The Thursday Boot Company has some sizing issues that they need to sort out internally. It is recommended that customers purchase a 1/2 smaller than their sneaker size. Hhhhmmmm, confusing. Nike fit narrow; Asics fit true to size; Fila run a whole size smaller; etc. I purchased my normal shoe size, and the issue is in the boots sizing themselves. I also own the Thursday President in 11M, black and the sizing is correct with a good snug fit. My Thursday Captain Boots are correct length wise, but off width wise. The Captain and President are essentially the same boot built on the same platform, with the President having a plain toe. My suggestion, try before you buy; and DO NOT crease the boots during your try on period. The foot bed is NOT removable, but if they came with removable inserts, I would be able to make this boot sneaker like comfortable. I wish the foot beds were removable. The supplied and permanent footbed is adequate, and I am sure that they will form more to my feet as time passes. There is a lot of hype surrounding these boots. Hype is just someone else's opinion. I consider these to be a good mid-level entry boot based on pricing, quality and construction. The best boots are the boots you can a. afford, and b. enjoy, like or love. Are these good boots for the money? I would have to say yes! Are they comfortable? I would have to say yes, but they are NOT my most comfortable boots, or necessarily my main go to boot. They are a pair of boots that have been added to my rotation, and they will get used based on me and my outfits. They will be a boot that I wear all year round in my rotation. Personally, I like and enjoy my President's more. The President also weighs a little less because of the outer soles. Based my personal opinion and concerns surrounding the boot, I gave it 4 stars. I would recommend this boot to those looking for a boot in this price range or higher. Overall, I like the boot. ... show more

What an amazing boot! High Quality material and very comfortable! I get so many compliments on them and they’re very stylish when it comes to the right outfit! Make sure you order a half size down from your original shoe size. I’m an 8 and a half in shoe size, and an 8 in these boots fit perfectly! You may have to try many to get it right because I actually had to return them twice until I got the size right. But I’m so glad to finally have the right size and can show them off!
