This product was recommended by my plumber; it does the job and does it very well. The drain cleaners you find in grocery stores and big box retailers are placebos compared to this stuff. A couple of words of caution: Stand away from the product as you take the lid off; the fumes are pretty noxious. Be sure to run hot water from the tap to warm the drain line before use. I pour about 2/3 of a cup of the product into the drain and then follow with just enough boiling water to dissolve the crystals, wait one minute and then flush the drain with a lot of boiling water. Stand back from the drain as you initially pour the boiling water to avoid the fumes. You won't be disappointed with this product. ... show more

My tub drain was so backed up, no matter how many times I tried to clean if manually, I just couldn’t get the water to drain 100% smoothly. Now be warned, do NOT get this in your skin and, if necessary, put on a face mask bc the smell… whew. Called a plumber to unclog a bathroom drain. He showed up with a snake and a container of this. Because I had partial water flow in the drain he didn't bother to use the snake at all. He stated if it was 100% clogged he would have needed the snake to open it a little but the partial flow was good enough. He proceeded to use this and in front of my eyes the clog was completely gone in less than 3 minutes. I would say I wasted money on calling out a plumber but it was worth it as I discovered this product. I've used various types of Drain O, ZEP, etc. and NONE of them work except for this. My dad has had a slow bathroom drain for two years. Finally got a plumber in, and this is what he used. Just dumped a bunch on the drain and poured boiling water down. He wasn't satisfied with how well it drained (it had gotten really bad), so he did one more treatment. Drain runs as perfectly as if it were brand new.
