I'll start by saying that these boots run about a size too small. I normally wear a 12 but had to return the 12s they sent me. I reordered a size 13 wide and they fit me snug in a comfortable new shoe kind of way. After wearing them for the last week they seem to be loosening up and forming to my feet. Overall they are a very comfortable boot and they feel very sturdy. I haven't tested the water-proofing yet but as a delivery driver I will no doubt have an opportunity soon. I'll leave an update if there is a problem. The zipper feels rugged and sturdy. They even sound substantial when zipping them up and down. The velcro tab also seems to have been improved on since some of the reviews of these boots have been written. It is thick and stitched as part of a larger piece of the boot material that includes the lace holes and lots of double stitching. I don't see it coming off or wearing out any time soon. The insoles are firm but have plenty of cushion at the same time. I also wear insoles for 200+lbs people but the combination is really nice. The soles feel very rugged with plenty of grip. I noticed right away that they don't slide on smooth surfaces, such as tile or hard wood, like my last few pairs of boots have had issues with. I'd definitely buy these again. Update: after wearing these for several months I've decided that these are literally the best boot ever. I have worn these daily through tens of thousands of steps. Up and down driveways, stairs, through yards and alleys. Puddles ankle deep. These boots fear nothing. I'm excited to see how they perform on an icy day. I've mostly worn them through the spring and summer now. But they are true beasts. And not only that but I've received several comments on how good they look. I have nothing but good things to say about these boots. If I can wear these boots out, someday I will be replacing them with the same pair. Excellent quality. ... show more

I recently purchased these Premium Black Leather Tactical Boots and, let me tell you, they're not just boots; they're an all-in-one life solution. First off, the heavy-duty side zipper – I thought it was for easy access, but it turns out it's actually a portal to another dimension of comfort and efficiency. The slip-resistant Crosstrex 360 outsole is a game changer. I accidentally stepped into a secret agent movie and found myself chasing bad guys over rooftops – not a single slip. I even tried moonwalking on an oil slick, just for science. Spoiler: Nailed it. But wait, there's more! The "athletic tactical" design isn't just a fancy term. I played a game of soccer with them, and suddenly I was bending it like Beckham. When I went hiking, they morphed into hiking boots, complete with motivational speeches to push me up the hill. At work, they transformed into formal shoes, and I swear my presentation skills skyrocketed. Oh, and the best part? I like tactical, waterproof, and side zip boots. These Thorogood boots fit that bill. I got these for my part time job. I reviewed a lot of boots and tried another brand before ordering these. I like the looks of these boots. I like the tread. They seem well made. I like that they have a larger than most pull strap on the back of the boots, and it makes it a lot easier to grasp onto. I like that these are lightweight. I found them easy to lace up. I like the Velcro closure over the zipper is longer than most boots I've ever worn. I was not impressed on how it seems the zippers are not all that easy to zip up. They are rough working so to speak. These were not as comfortable as I hoped they'd be, but they are not all that bad. For some reason, the right boot rubs my leg at the top of the boot on the outer side of my leg, and also the right heel insole feels a little rough. I found that I had to unlace the very top speed hooks in order to ease the rubbing. I also am going to have to put some sort of cushioned insoles in the boots. I normally wear a size 12 in footwear. I ordered these in a 12. With thicker socks, there is not really any room to spare, and I found that I was unable to get the more expensive and cushioned footwear inserts to fit in the boots and still get my foot in them. For some reason, the right bootlace kept coming untied, while the left one stayed tied just fine. I ended up replacing the laces with some Lock Laces. Time will tell on how well these boots hold up. A coworker has a pair just like these and has been quite pleased with them and their durability. I will update this review with anything I find to the contrary. After a break-in period, I believe that these boots will be fine and will accept a nicer cushioned insert. I rate these Thorogood boots 4.5 stars. Hopefully, this honest helps someone. ... show more

Over my 77 years I have purchased many hiking boots, some good, some not so good. These have far exceeded my expectations. I was looking for a good hiking boot that was easy to put on and take off. So I decided to give a zipper style boot a try. I didn't hold out much hope that they would work well as a sturdy hiking boot. Well, I'm here to tell you these are unbelievable boots. They are extremely comfortable right out of the box and they really work well as a standup hiking boot. I have a corn on the side of one foot and my old boots use to really make this hurt. My new boots are unbelievably comfortable and no more soreness on the corn area. This is about the second review I have ever written but I just had to share this experience. ... show more

I've had these for a few months now (10 wide) and have put a minimum of 8 miles a day on them 5 days a week, (not even exaggerating) walking/standing for 10 hour shifts with almost every Saturday for 4-6 hours, I thought they were super comfy at first but once they broke in they turned to absolute trash, left pinky toe feels cramped/no room and throbs most of the day and the thin cushion on the heels let's the materials dig into your heal making it almost unbearable to even walk.. garbage ass boots in my opinion. Love these boots. Order a size larger that your US shoe size. The Wide size is just barely a wide, but it’s good enough for me. These boots are very comfortable and they look great. The zipper is a bit stiff but breaks in quickly. In the rain they are waterproof. I haven’t put them to the test fishing or walking trails but I am confident they’re fine. They are very grippy on wet or dry rocks and surfaces. I love Thorogood boots and these imported boots do live up to the Thorogood name regarding Quality. I do wish the side zip boot came in a brown. Truly disappointed with these boots. Thought these would be a good pair of boots from the reviews, but I should have read more than 3 reviews. Also I thought with time they’d be broken in but, got worse over time. My left foot always felt like my sock was bunched up, but it wasn’t and my arch constantly hurt. The right boot, the zipper was always a pain to unzip and zip up. The zipper always had a sticking point. They claim to be water proof, but my feet were always wet. Now they are starting to fall apart. My Brunt’s never did this and now I wished I would’ve got another pair. Thorogood…more like Thoronotsogood. ... show more
