Description

Walk Easy model 495 is an economical adjustable forearm crutch. This European aluminum lightweight crutch weighs in at slightly less than 2 pounds per crutch. The Ergo Grips fit the right and left hands individually so the crutches cannot be switched from hand- to-hand. The grip holds the hand so the wrist is not bent as much as a regular grip. The grips are also tilted up so the weight tends towards the heel of the hand where there is the most padding. I also install a pair of Tornado GT (Gel Tips a $40.49 value) and a pair of Padded leather cuff inserts (a $47.95 value) on every pair of Walk-Easy crutches we sell. Tornado GT crutch tips are super durable - you will be amazed how long they wear. They are hand fabricated in the USA with a built-in shock absorbing center made of Absorbalite Gel. This gel eats up to 80% of the negative ground impact forces that otherwise would be absorbed by your body. They are very flexible and articulate to engage the full bottom of the tip with the ground for positive traction. Tornado tips are comfortable to the extreme and represent a $40.49 value! Height adjustable grip to floor from 29-1/2 to 41-1/2 inches and grip to top of cuff from 8-3/4 to 10-3/4 inches. User weight limit is 300 pounds. Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for delivery.

  • On My Feet Again
Size: Adjustable with Tornado Gel Tip
I recently found I have a severely torn gluteus medius tendon caused in large part from moving my 92 year old mother's furniture out of her house a year ago when she went kicking and screaming to assisted living after going blind from temporal arteritis. My hip, buttocks and groin pain at times is a 12 on that 10 point pain scale. The surgeon recommended I use crutches to take some weight off my hip and buttocks. I did a lot of research online and decided on the Walk Easy crutches for two reasons. One, I noted that most custom one piece titanium and aluminum crutch sellers also carried the less expensive adjustable Walk Easy brand. Second, though not the cheapest, they are certainly not the most expensive adjustable crutches out there. In my research I stumbled upon Steve Mertz and Tom Fetterman as two top drawer crutch sellers and crutch part designers. Tom Fetterman's Tornado Crutch Tips are highly regarded by regular crutch users on Youtube. When I found both Tom Fetterman and Steve Mertz selling Walk Easy crutches on Amazon with the Tornado Tips it was a no-brainer kind of purchase decision for me. Today, the crutches arrived direct from the manufacturer in Florida. I ordered black out of the dozen or so color choices. Expecting gloss black I was pleasantly surprised to find them finished in an elegant matte, somewhat knurled black which is really sophisticated. The box arrived damage free to my home in Oregon. The crutches were nicely wrapped in plastic. The Tornado Tips pre-installed. I followed some crutch adjustment Youtube videos and in ten minutes began baby stepping around the house. The crutches fit me perfectly and are absolutely quiet, though I'm sure they will loosen up with use. Soon, I'll be having surgery to repair this torn tendon and eventually these crutches will no longer be needed. Instead of relegating these to the garage graveyard with the other gray underarm killer crutches various family members have discarded over the years I'm going to pass these on to someone in need. They're that kind of crutch. Happy trails. ... show more

Crutches felt natural right out of the box after adjusting. Just like an extension of your arms as they fit so perfectly. I've never used forearm crutches before but I can tell these are quality after using standard hospital underarm crutches for awhile. The grips are surprisingly comfortable for no added padding but it does wear on the hands after extended use. But that's not the fault of these crutches, if anything I believe these alleviate it. The forearm padding is just enough to keep any friction or wear on the forearms. I have become a Thomas Fetterman fan and will always look to his items first when getting a new pair. Will update this review if anything drastic changes over time but so far these are amazing. Thanks! Edit: 9/24/2020 Have been using these for quite some time now and they are durable as can be. I will say that you have to have some upper body/arm strength to use effectively but otherwise fantastic crutches. If these ever wear out I'll order them again. ... show more

  • Great crutches
Size: Adjustable with Tornado Gel Tip
These crutches are extremely quiet, comfortable, ergonomic, and look good. I switched to these from underarm crutches and could use them instantly with no problems. The cuff is tight, but can be adjusted (it does involve boiling water so you might need help to do it). I have nerve damage in my leg, as well as a Connective Tissue Disorder, and have no issues using these. If you buy the handle covers they add a little bulk that makes the handles easier to grip for long periods of time, which is helpful to prevent arthritis issues. ... show more

  • Worth every penny
Size: Adjustable with Tornado Gel Tip
I'm a new LAKA and I wanted something other than under arm crutches. I looked at the Thomas Fetterman lite stix crutches and we're just out of my budget. So I went for the walk easy an I'm glad I did I still get the insurance of falling from the tornado rain tips which work very well. The arm leather cushions are top notch. The crutches are very well made an quiet no rattles. They feel light weight to me and I feel sturdy on them when walking. My main reason for buying these were solely for the tornado rain tips an I feel for the 3rd of the price of the lite stix, with the walk easy I got the best of both worlds. The tips an arm cushions if bought separately are almost half the cost of these crutches. I highly recommend these crutches. Shipping was super fast. I'll be using crutches for the rest of my life and I feel these will do the job. Thank you Thomas Fetterman for a product that does the job. ... show more

  • The ergo grips are fantastic along with the crutches.
Size: Adjustable with Tornado Gel Tip
If you purchase from the website, you will save many dinero’s. These crutches are great. Forearm crutches are the way to go. I’m telling you. I used them after a bad leg and knee injury/surgery. Your hands won’t get fatigued. I had to use a walker for quite awhile before I could use the crutches and my hands hurt pretty bad from having mild carpal tunnel. Now that I am using my leg more I am using the left crutch as a cane. Which works very nicely. I don’t have much experience with canes but I’m really comfortable using one crutch as one. You can purchase just one crutch from Walkeasy’s website. Along with other accessories and parts. I’m considering ordering one of their collapsible canes with the ergo grip for compact ability and storage in a vehicle but it really isn’t necessary. Oh I did purchase the light tips for the crutch ends (Fedderman ultralights). I don’t know if they were any better than what came with the crutches or not but they worked great. ... show more
