High-Quality Journal
Format: Diary
This journal is beautiful! The cover has a whimsical, witchy vibe with raised, embossed details. The front and back of the journal have matching designs with "The Universe" in the middle, on the top is written "air, water, fire" and on the bottom "vegetable, animal and mineral". This journal includes 160 LINED pages, although you will see for the picture I included that the lines do not go all the way to edge of the pages. My favorite feature of this journal is that it lies flat when open which mades it so much easier to use. There is also a nice ribbon makes it easy to find your place and the gold edged pages makes it look elegant and expensive. Great gift for yourself or for someone else! :) ... show more

High quality paper for a great cost in an exceptional book cover
Format: Diary
I use this journal as a sketchbook and am quite enthralled with it. The paper is of very good quality and it handles most fountain pen inks quite well, as 120 gsm is thick enough to prevent bleed though and ghosting. Some particular wet inks may feather a little. The cover gives the journal an air of mystery as of an old scribe or archived document and the binding will withstand a lot of use and abuse, although it may not be perfect for making each page lay perfectly flat. I recommend Peter Pauper journals and sketchbooks. ... show more

Underrated Journals.
Format: Diary
Very high quality all the way around. Paper is nice and firm, but very smooth and well put together. Hardcover is textured and at first touch, quality is immediately noticeable. Honestly very happy with the purchase, i am surprised there are still companies out there providing quality products at good prices. When i first opened the cover i got those beautiful tiny crackles of the hardcover and i knew right then the choice was right. I recommend. ... show more

Surprisingly good, very high quality
Format: Diary
Really surprised with the quality of this notebook for the price, and in general. Looks exactly like the official and other review photos (beautiful metallic motif on the cover, gilded page edges, ivory paper). It's slightly wider and slightly taller than the dot grid notebook I was using before, but I'm actually kind of enjoying the extra breathing room. I have (very) small handwriting, but I can comfortably fit two sentences between the wide ruled lines. I used Energel pens and the paper takes ink smoothly, no feathering, and allows the ink to dry fast. There is absolutely minimal ghosting (I had to scrutinize it closely to notice at all) and no bleed, even with highlighters. I have another, much smaller Peter Pauper notebook (Twilight Garden) that I didn't like; the paper was rougher and ink feathered. Not the case with the Universe Journal at all. Glad I took a chance on this one. ... show more

Stunningly classy & beautiful
Format: Diary
Gorgeous! I'd recommend it, I'd give it as a gift, I'd buy another once it's filled, I'd buy another even if I didn't need it! Seriously, there is no downside to this book! It's so good looking I don't even care that it's lines are spaced worse than wide ruled. I spulled a half of glass of chocolate milk on it today, accider tally of course. It wiped right off and the outside edge got wet, but it did not bleed in and now, you can't even tell I spilled anything on it, the pages didn't get wavy and the cover is still perfect! That's rare, trust me, I've spilled on tons of notebooks, they do not all handle it equally!! I will be seeing what else Peter Pauper Press has for sale because I am a notebook queen! I didn't realize until my husband told me he moved my collection to a dedited bookshelf. I said collection, what collection? Your notebook collection, dear. I started to say I do NOT have a collec- then I realized, yup, I sure do. At any given moment I am writing in between 4 and 7 different notebooks with another 20 on the shelf, and about 30 Ive collected over the years that never get written in...lol It takes a lot for me to not want to write in one though, I mean, cmon, I cant take em with me! Well, unless I have em cremated with me but that would just be absurd...LOL He bought me the composition notebook Mary Jane's from Hot Chocolate Designs for my birthday this year. It was super appropriate. ... show more

A nice, simple, mid-size, mid-range journal
Format: Diary
One of Peter Pauper's nicer "simple" journals. Still most impressed by their Feathers oversize journal with a feather extending along the bottom corner of every page. There was a special quality to that which really justified the price. That said, few of the journals are quite like that. Most have the cream color paper and it comes down to the quality of the binding and the cover. The Universe Journal has a pretty clean design, it's a mid-sized journal which I find easier to write in than their small ones but a little tighter than the oversize which seem to have just the right amount of space for my needs. The quality of the cover is fairly comparable to the better of Pauper's journals. I have had a few journals from them in previous years (different designs, the Onyx one springs to mind) that weren't quite nice enough to justify the price but this one had no glaring issues for me. Highly recommend this journal if you're in the market for a mid-sized journal. ... show more

Really solid journal.
Format: Diary
I never write product reviews but I have to say something nice about this one. I’ve been journaling consistently for about 3 years now and change to a new journal brand with every new one, just to be adventurous. But I think I may settle down with Peter Pauper Press. The journal is very aesthetically pleasing, even if the gold page fringe is a bit much (just my opinion). But it’s seems very durable, it’s comfortable to write on as well. Best of all the paper doesn’t bleed. I press hard, I use gel ink, and still nothing when I turn the page. Highly recommend. ... show more
