These books are fantastic. My 6 year-old daughter thinks they're entertaining and has no idea that they're actually educational. She asks all kinds of questions about what words mean and why things happen. These TT books are really the only ones that open up a discussion like this. She used the word "economy" correctly recently. I know it's the TT stories that make these large concepts understandable. ... show more

The twins meet a happy food-truck operator, who gladly sells the twins her products. One day, at a sporting event, if I remember well, or just before, they find her crying, and ask why. She tells them the government is now requiring a long list of regulations for food-trucks--and these regulations are putting her business, and, as they discover, most food-trucks out of business! The government requires expensive regulations to revamp the trucks, and their acquaintance doesn't have the money! This mystery is eventually solved when the twins realize that 'Bob's Big Barbeque'--or something of similar name--wants the sports crowd to go to his restaurant, and not to the food trucks, so he makes extra money and eliminates his competition. Bob went to the mayor and city council, you see, to influence them to change the law to heavily regulate his competition, so as to put them out of business, so all the people at the stadium would come to his nearby restaurant, and not get food from the other businesses in the food-trucks. The police come and force the food-trucks to leave, before the game is over. They say they're just enforcing the law. In the end, the mayor is denounced, and leaves as quickly as possible after repealing the 'unfair' laws against food-truck businesses. The entrepreneurs are happy, and the Tuttle Twins set up a lemonade stand in front of city hall. 'A' for pedagogy. Full of practical information about the subject for kids. I would say, about ages 8 through 12, or older. ... show more
