  • Great read!
Format: Paperback
Great book for parents and kids to read together!

  • Valuable for those who work with youth with behavioral challenges
Format: Paperback
I work with elementary students with behavioral challenges placed in gen ed classrooms, to EI programs. This book is written in a way that speaks directly to the student and can be handed right over to them or you can make copies of pages. For me, it provided valuable insight and a way to relate to students that I hadn't considered. Worth the money and I was able to get through it in a day. ... show more

  • Great for 3rd-8th graders
Format: Paperback
Wonderful readings and prompts for meaningful discussions. I am a school counselor and use this with my students who have a negative view of their behaviors and like the feel of an insider on improving them.

  • Really great book!!!
Format: Paperback
I teach 4th and 5th grade in an EBD classroom. This book is wonderful for my students. We are reading it as a class but it can easily be read on your own. I love that it gives real experiences and that it teaches my students different techniques to help then manage their behavior. My students have said more then once "that sounds like me" or "I have that problem too". It even has self evaluating quizes and different worksheets that I copy to have my student complete on their own. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has a child with an emotional behavioral disorder. ... show more

  • Book was so personal
Format: Paperback
This book was so personal and addressed the misbehavior I bought it for. The author was relatable and realistic that my child giggles as she could see herself in some cases. We practiced the steps and she is much better today with her social skills.

  • Not what I was expecting
Format: Paperback
I have a child on the autism spectrum with ODD and was hoping to use this as an additional resource for therapy. I skimmed through the book and thought that it was more for kids who are either bullies or have been bullied and are tempted to fight back in nonproductive ways. This does not apply to us. Also, the term "stupid" showed up a few times, which is considered a bad word in our house, so I had to verbally edit it if I was reading it out loud. There were also a few pages where I personally wasn't crazy about the advice that was being given. Simply put, it wasn't a book where I could give it to my daughter to read independently and not worry about some sections sending a message that goes against what I am trying to teach her. There are a few things to glean from it, but not enough to keep the book. I will probably be returning this one. ... show more

  • Stunning insight into your child's mind
Format: Paperback
Already in love with this book and my son who is 9 and I are only on page 6. My sons reaction was "I couldn't have said it better myself" this book opens a world of discussion and gives parents a true insight into how your child is feeling and how you can work together to change it! I would highly recommend this book to any parent who is struggling with behavior issues its amazing, fantastic, superb! I really can't say enough good things. Worth so much more than the dollars you spend to purchase it! ... show more

  • High 5
Format: Paperback
I love this! My son is 7yrs old a bit to young to understand and read on his own so I read them out loud for him. Every night we read a few pages so he doesn't get overwhelmed! I swear every topic he can relate to and just smiles & laughs knowing that he isn't the only one facing these challenges. My child understands it's ok to talk about feelings instead of holding them inside. He also loves the mirror challenge everyday, great way to build his self esteem...... I could go on & on. This is well worth it! ... show more
