  • Worth Every Penny
Couldn’t recommend this book enough! Its great to see the concept art behind an amazing piece, and it is even better to see the early art behind an amazing artist! As an artist honing my craft, this book was full of inspiration. The biggest takeaway for me was creating a “safe space” for sketching. All too often I get down on myself when I can quite figure out proportion or perspective when I’m drawing and I get discouraged. Loish reminds us of the importance of sketching away anyway and letting yourself make these mistakes anyway. With practice you’ll get it down, but if you don't practice you won’t progress. She also spends some portions of the book talking the reader through her process. Super helpful! Lovely book. 10/10 ... show more

  • Makes me sad...
When I look through this I realize that I will never be this good. Ever. Loish’s work is just the best. I remember when I first found her, I just thought that if god came down and gave me the drawing skills I wanted it would be to draw like her. Even though I’ll never be able to draw like this, I love this book. It’s so inspiring and informative. I have her other book too but I like this one better just because I really enjoy watching the process. Buy it. Support this incredibly talented woman and get a book that you will take out to inspire you frequently. ... show more

  • Beautiful and a Great Addition to any Aspiring Artist's Shelf
love this artist. This book, like the title says, is more of a personal sketchbook than it is "tips and tricks" though it also has a lot of that as well.

  • Amazing!
I bought this book having not seen Loish’s personally but I heard she was definitely an amazing artist. After seeing the cover and some reviews, I bought it and I’ve reread it 3 times already. This book gave me a lot of tips on techniques as well as tons of inspiration from seeing her art! I would definitely recommend this to artists who are starting take art seriously and need direction on taking their art to the next level. ... show more

  • Gorgeous, inspirational, and useful!
I've been really struggling with my art, even with watching tons of online tutorials. This has already helped me move forward and learn to love the art of an imperfect sketch.

  • The book is pretty rad, especially if you're a fan of Loish or concept art in general.
Great book with journey and history of the artist, insight into the art, tips and advice on making your art in similar style. The only reason it didn't receive a perfect score is because some of the pictures, although quality, did not translate well into print. Maybe add a code for a site where people who bought the book can view all the art online. ... show more

  • Greatest Art Book
Love this book so much, Loish is actually one of my favorite artists so being able to get her book mad me so happy 😂

  • I like this more than the art of Loish
This is a great book and pairs nicely with her others books. But I prefer this one the most since it is really helpful to learn techniques from.
