Description

"A gorgeous love story from one of the finest romance writers out there." —Carley Fortune, New York Times bestselling author of Every Summer After A New York Public Library Best Book of 2023 A Most Anticipated Book by Entertainment Weekly ∙ Harper's Bazaar ∙ PopSugar ∙ Real Simple ∙ BookRiot ∙ and more! An overworked book publicist with a perfectly planned future hits a snag when she falls in love with her temporary roommate…only to discover he lives seven years in the past, in this witty and wise new novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Dead Romantics. Sometimes, the worst day of your life happens, and you have to figure out how to live after it. So Clementine forms a plan to keep her heart safe: work hard, find someone decent to love, and try to remember to chase the moon. The last one is silly and obviously metaphorical, but her aunt always told her that you needed at least one big dream to keep going. And for the last year, that plan has gone off without a hitch. Mostly. The love part is hard because she doesn’t want to get too close to anyone—she isn’t sure her heart can take it. And then she finds a strange man standing in the kitchen of her late aunt’s apartment. A man with kind eyes and a Southern drawl and a taste for lemon pies. The kind of man that, before it all, she would’ve fallen head-over-heels for. And she might again. Except, he exists in the past. Seven years ago, to be exact. And she, quite literally, lives seven years in his future. Her aunt always said the apartment was a pinch in time, a place where moments blended together like watercolors. And Clementine knows that if she lets her heart fall, she’ll be doomed. After all, love is never a matter of time—but a matter of timing. Read more

  • You only live once and if you do it right, once is all you need!
🍋The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Posten🍋 I adored this book! Normally, I would not be drawn to books that have time travel, but the characters and storyline in The Seven Year Slip sucked me in and I couldn’t put it down! I have really been connecting with books that address grief after losing my Mom. The story between Clementine and her beloved Aunt was beautiful. The way the author showed Clementine’s grief was so relatable and real. And don’t even get me started on the adorable love story that plays out between Clementine “Lemon” and Iwan throughout this book! Definitely swoon worthy! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A few quotes from TSYS that I love: 🍋“Sometimes the people you loved left you halfway through a story. Sometimes they left you without a goodbye. And, sometimes, they stayed around in little ways. In the memory of a musical. In the smell of their perfume. In the sound of the rain, and the itch for adventure, and the yearning for that liminal space between one airport terminal and the next. I hated her for leaving, and I loved her for staying as long as she could. And I would never wish this pain on anyone.“ 🍋”You only live once. And if you do it right, once is all you need.” 🍋 “Nothing lasts forever. Not the good things, not the bad. So just find what makes you happy, and do it for as long as you can.” 🍋 “You never commit a mundane moment to memory, thinking it’ll be the last time you’ll hear their voice, or see their smile, or smell their perfume. Your head never remembers the things your heart wants to in hindsight.” 🍋 “Isn’t it strange how the world works sometimes? It’s never a matter of time, but a matter of timing.” I can’t recommend The Seven Year Slip enough! It’s beautiful and if it’s not on your TBR- add it today! ... show more

  • a magical tale
📚𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖📚 The Seven Year Slip by: Ashley Poston 3.5⭐️ I had to sit on this one for a couple of days. Ashley Poston's books are different. They bring something unique to the table every time- no pun intended. I was a big fan of The Dead Romantics and waited a long time to read this one. I had a very real fear that I wouldn't love her writing a second time. I really liked Clementine and I loved Iwan's character. They both were trying to find the most authentic versions of themselves, but it was tricky for Clementine. She meets Iwan in the magical apartment, but he is seven years in the past. Then, low and behold, the chef-turned-author she's trying to sign is Iwan in present day. And the two versions she gets of him are vastly different, but she falls in love with both of them. Time travel, in general, is super confusing to me. I don't really believe there are other versions of us in other dimensions having different experiences. That's way too deep of a concept for me to wrap my head around. But the author kept the book really streamlined and easy to understand what was going on in different time periods. The magic only lived inside of apartment B4, so there weren't a lot of time & place changes to follow along with. I enjoyed the book and thought it was really sweet, but I don't think I loved it as much as The Dead Romantics. I loved all the revelations along the way, but I didn't get the warm fuzzies from the characters until the very end and it was really only Iwan that I felt it from. I did love seeing Clementine come to terms with what would make her happy and taking steps to achieve it. I loved chatting with friends about this one! I know the author has a new release coming out in 2024 and I will definitely read it. I love the way she writes and tells stories that are so unique to the book world. —𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝: 🕰️right person, right place, wrong time 🏨magical apartment 🧑🏼🍳chef x publicist 💔grief & acceptance ... show more

  • Beautiful Romance But Totally Unusual
This is one of the best romantic stories I’ve read in the recent times. When I read the first few chapters and saw that there’s magic involved, I became a little skeptical. In author’s words, when I read about the magic in this book, I imagined that it would be the fettuccine pasta or the sauce but the more I read the more I realized that the magic is nothing but the salt. Seasoned to perfection, used in optimum quantities but never overpowering. Every single one of the relationships in Clementine’s life is explored perfectly, the apt amount of details to establish the root but never overdone. Though the time loop thing seemed overwhelming in the beginning it was never confusing. The way author handled past and the present and how people change and how to be accepting of that was outstanding. A must read and a definite well-deserved 5 star. ... show more

  • Absolutely beautiful!!
Wow, this book was absolutely beautiful. I don’t know if I can accurately put my thoughts into words, but I’ll try. It was so incredibly beautifully written. I feel such a deep connection to every single person in this story; as though I know them personally. I laughed, cried, teared up, felt such profound sadness, had chills, was happy, and elated, and so on. I wanted to highlight every other sentence because it just resonated with me so deeply. This story was absolute perfection. A true masterpiece. I already want to reread it. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up immediately. Oh and have the tissues ready! ... show more
