  • Ridge pen is one of the best!
Color: Aluminum Navy Style: Hex Ridge
I love Ridge products, and this one is no exception. I have two of these pens (one for work, the other for home) and I use these literally every single day. I love the toggle to use the pen as it takes away the accident click on the pen that you might have on a ballpoint pen which sometimes can lead to other issues (i.e. ink marks on your clothes, poking yourself with the pen, etc.) I don't have anything bad to say about these pens as they are built solid. If anything happens to them all you have to do is email or call Ridge and they will help take care of you. ... show more

  • I gifted the Bastion, I kept the The Ridge
If you're looking for a bolt action pen and you're here at Amazon, you likely encountered Bastion pens and The Ridge. Yes, it's odd to say there were so many differences between two bolt action pens--they're both extremely basic writing utensils with the same actuator, but there were enough to buy two and gift one. Why it's good: The Ridge pen stayed with me because the bolt is on the right side; yes, the Bastion is made for lefties (all five of them). The Ridge has a better weight. Seriously, a chunk of copper looks cool, but it's a struggle to carry. I love the titanium metal, look, and weight. I love the color scheme of dark gray, black, and a flash or brass (yes, I would prefer it be burnt bronze, but it's close). I like that it takes standard Parker style pen refills. I have lots of options, including the Bastion refills I bought for the Bastion pen I gifted but didn't want to include with the gift because I thought I'd buy another Bastion for myself but really can't get around my qualms of the Bastion (lefty bolt, weight, and unusable clip, primarily). What could be improved: The logo. It's not the biggest detractor, but why not let the logo be small, out of the way, and let the aesthetics and functionality tell you it's from The Ridge? The bolt sometimes sticks. I don't know why. I unscrew it, check the refill, reinstall, and go back to fidgeting. Parts get loose. Yes, the actual bolt immediately was loose and would continue to loosen with each fidget. I put some blue Loctite on it: fixed. But should I have to do that? Why didn't it come with some Loctite? It's not a part that is intended to be removed or swapped. The clip also has moved and required some stronger convincing of the rear cap to stay put; it may also get some blue Loctite soon. Yes, it's the better, lighter, and more comfortable and usable pen, but it's not perfect. ... show more

  • My new favorite pen!
Color: Burnt Titanium Style: Hex Ridge
This pen is for the right handed like me. Full titanium body but with weight behind it which I love. When I first got it, I could feel the metal grinding a bit when using the bolt action and I could hear the spring inside as well. Nothing a little grease couldn't fix. I'm a bit surprised they didn't grease it out of the factory but now it's very smooth and awesome to fidget with. Now the big question. Does it write well? Well I'm no pen connoisseur by any means but the answer is yes. It feels smooth to write with and the ink is pretty dark. It does not leak (so far) or bleed into the paper. I do enjoy writing with it very much. When I have to use other pens, I notice when they feel scratchy so this pen may actually turn me into a snob, lol. It seems the harder I push into the paper while writing, the darker the ink. It feels just as smooth (if not a tiny bit smoother) as the space bullet pen by fisher but with bolder ink. It looks great and for big hands like mine the extra width gives a bit more comfort. The position of the clip is adjustable so I can put it on either side of the bolt unlike some other pens out there. I do wish the colors were a bit more vibrant, the blue is not as bold as it looks in the pictures but it's not bad. Is it worth $105? If it lasts 20 years I would say yes. I have not had to replace the ink cartridge so hopefully that won't be a headache later. Apparently it may accept Parker refills so if that's the case I think it will be a pen I'll use for years to come. This does feel like a premium pen in pretty much every way. ... show more

  • Absolutely the BEST pen I have ever purchased at any price!
Color: Carbon Fiber 3K Style: Hex Ridge
I use a pen every day at work signing contracts and filling out forms. Every now and then I come across random pens that just really write and feel great in the hand. Usually within a day or 2 they disappear from my desk forcing me back to my drawer of cheap bulk pens. After a bit of research I decided to order this pen for myself, and I vowed to keep it locked up so it would not disappear like many others before it! I was completely surprised that this pen really actually delivered on the promises that so many reviewers have given it on multiple different platforms. This pen is well balanced, very comfortable in the hand and writes smooth as butter! I write with my right hand, so I love the actual positioning of the bolt action mechanism. I must have gotten lucky as I did not have the issue with a bad pen cartridge that some people have made mention of. Right out of the box it has been perfect! In anticipation of maybe getting one with a bad cartridge right out of the box, I also ordered a 6 pack of the Schmidt easyFLOW 9000 Black Ink refills. I have yet to open them, as months later the pen is still delivering the outstanding performance that it was from day one! I will do a review when I actually have to open that Schmidt pack and use one of the refills. With that being said, Ridge, you have delivered a great product for a very competitive price point. If you are looking for a nice pen please don't hesitate to give Ridge a try! ... show more

I ended up giving away my pen to someone who is still enjoying it to this day (as I had bought a whole kit originally a ways back the tray, pen, knife, wallet, watch) anyway I absolutely love my Ridge Products so much that if they ever have another sale where the kits are available I will buy them again.
