  • Blake Edwards’ Classic in Stunning 4K – Elegant, Witty, and Effortlessly Stylish
The original Pink Panther (1963) sparkles like a diamond in its new 4K UHD presentation — as refined and playful as the jewel at the heart of the story. This film is a masterclass in comedic elegance, blending caper, sophistication, and slapstick into a timeless cinematic cocktail. The 4K restoration is absolutely gorgeous. Colors are vibrant without being oversaturated — from Claudia Cardinale’s royal silks to the rich Alpine landscapes and elegant interiors. Detail is razor-sharp: you can admire the fine textures of tuxedos, fur coats, and Peter Sellers’ now-iconic Inspector Clouseau trench. The grain structure is preserved, giving it that cinematic warmth we crave, while HDR adds beautiful depth to nighttime scenes and candlelit rooms. Peter Sellers is brilliant — every glance, stumble, and over-confident deduction lands with perfect comedic timing. His Clouseau is already fully formed here, stealing every scene with oblivious charm. David Niven exudes cool, and Henry Mancini’s unforgettable jazz score is still one of the sexiest soundtracks ever composed, especially in this clean, spatially detailed audio mix. Bonus features are plentiful, but the real draw is how fresh and modern this 1963 classic now feels in 4K. It’s not just restored — it’s reborn. Whether you're a lifelong fan or discovering the series anew, this disc is essential for any collector of classic cinema, elegant comedy, or vintage charm. The Pink Panther has never gleamed brighter. ... show more

  • As good as it gets
While Peter Sellers stole the show, David Niven was great in his role and the supporting cast was fantastic. Capucine was hilarious in her role. Colin Gordon As Tucker’s straight man to Sellers crazy man was fun to watch. One of the best comedies ever made.

  • Silly in the extreme but A for video transfer to BD
The transfer from film to Blu-ray is flawless. Very well executed. Im not a videophile but this is so good I can appreciate it. Looks spectacular on my 2 or 3 year old 65" Sony Bravia via hundred and fify dollar panasonic bd player. Having said all that, the movie is terribly dated (1963) and the really is no plot. Its like a play my 8th grade JH class "wrote" and put on stage back in the 70's. Just a bunch of running around acting silly. David Niven did a lot of movies like this unfortunately. I thought it was funny in 1973 when I was a tween. ... show more

  • Maybe the Best of the Series
After 1975's 'Return of the Pink Panther', this first one from '63 is possibly the best in the Panther series though others seem to prefer 'A Shot in the Dark'. But this is livelier, funnier, and better-produced than ASitD and worth owning.

  • Beautiful 4 K Transfer!
Brilliant Transfer with a great spot on color grading faithful to the original camara negative. The 4K upgrade is certainly the best home video version, even better than on screen in the sixties. Highest recommendationss for this everlasting motion picture evergreen in 4 K!
