"The Outer Worlds" is an RPG that takes its nods from cowboy movies and the "Firefly" TV series. The main story finds you as a revived member of a stranded and derelict colony ship and you help a mad scientist track down the drugs needed to revive the remaining suspended in animation colonists. The game's charm is in the side missions and filled out world run by a conglomerate of corporations which have practically crushed the spirits of most of the people you encounter. Follow through on side missions to explore the depths of the conspiracy story and enjoy a surprisingly deep though acerbic political and social storyline. You will shoot things to solve your problems but you can also solve quite a few of them through dialogue. If your character is smart enough, or dumb enough, the game gives you special options. You can be a good guy, a bad guy, or vacillate between both to your heart's content and it will mildly effect the story's ending (but not the game's ending). The backgrounds and visuals are very perky and pretty early in the game but as you travel to other locations you end up in much darker environs where you will want to adjust your TV's black levels. I had fun with the game and tried to accomplish almost everything. I got out of the game about what I thought I would and enjoyed it quite a bit including a few laugh out loud moments. The gun types were okay, the leveling was slow, and some of the graphical movements for the fauna were lame but if you can overlook these shortcomings then you should enjoy a video game version of "Firefly". ... show more

    • Runs horrible on switch
This is the closes we have to a Fallout game on the Nintendo switch. Runs extremely slow, drops frame rate constantly and load times are better on the ps2. Would not recommend, just purchase on steam.
