Bill Riviere is a charming and knowledgeable author. This book written in the 1960's is still relevent today. I was happy to find this book avilable used on Amazon to add to my Bill Riviere collection. Otherwise, it would have been nearly impossible to find. Bill gives suggestions on safe river travel and techniques for canoe paddling. He discusses canoe designs which are as useful today as it was then. Bill has a great writing style and a lifetime of experience. I think Bill started putting his knowledge into writing when he was already in his fifties, so he really had a lot of experience to reflect on and from which to add stories and well considered opionions about canoe equipment and techniques. ... show more
