This backpack is almost perfect. It is durable, sleek, and light. I've used this while traveling and as a bookbag for school and my only real complaint is that the pocket in the front is only on the upper half of the book bag, creating a large pocket below of empty space. I currently have notebooks in my bag, and am having to stuff the bottom front to make it not cave in on itself. This weird design makes it to where you must lean it against something, or else it will consistently fall over. Doesn't discredit the quality of the bag, it's just super annoying.

Big regret that I ever dropped so much money on this lie of a backpack. I trusted the North Face name and all the positive reviews, but honestly, other than the durability of this backpack, it’s the worst backpack I’ve ever had. Let’s start with the “flexible straps.” All straps need is cushion and bam, they will be comfortable and fit to your shoulders. But these have some bizarre, incredibly thick, weirdly molded cardboard that twists in such a way that it digs straight into my collarbone and shoulders and is incredibly painful and has left welts. It has little to no padding at all. I mean, those dinky little straps on fashion backpacks are more comfortable than these. It’s unbelievable how awful the straps are. I can’t emphasize this enough. Let me reiterate: NO padding with thick, twisted cardboard insert. Wtf? And unfortunately, this same insert is in the back of the backpack, which “would” rest against your back, but since it’s also thick and twisted here, it instead bends the backpack in such a way that there is a a gaping space. So the backpack will rest against the top of your neck, bend outwards, and then jut into your tailbone because of the extreme twist and angle. I attached a picture to better show this. It reduces the amount of items you can put in the backpack, looks frankly ridiculous, and ensures that your backpack will never stand up straight but instead falls over immediately whenever you set it down. Not “flexible” or “padded” at all like the description. Again, there’s no padding here, or anywhere actually. If you pull out the strings to put more items in the front two pockets, it just exacerbates the problem. And as for the back pocket, the ONLY thing you can fit in there is an extremely slim laptop. All claims and descriptions of this backpack by the seller/brand are just a total lie, and I could not be more disappointed that I can’t return this piece of garbage. I’ve been using it in the hopes that this bizarre cardboard stuff could like, be broken in? But it doesn’t. I hate it as much today as I did the first day despite regular use. TLDR; you’re better off with a Jansport.

I ordered a North Face Borealis backpack from Amazon. It arrived today but it wasn’t what I had ordered. It was a sling bag less than the price of what I actually bought. I’m dissatisfied to know that I had been ripped off to something not worth the price of what I actually bought. If you’d like, I can send you links and pictures to what I had bought vs what I received.

Fits very comfortably on back and chest strap doesn't crowd the boobs like other "gender neutral" packs do. It is compact but can also manage to comfortably hold a couple binders and notebooks and a laptop. Padding for the laptop is very nice especially with a rigid back so if you have a thin laptop you don't have to worry about unnecessary torque. Stays clean easily and VERY durable. Absolutely a great bag.

After reading some of the reviews I hesitated. However it is built with the quality you expect from North Face.. I have dealt with them and they always honor their warranty. This is a comfortable fully adjustable day pack. If the shoulders are uncomfortable you have it adjusted wrong. The shoulders stabilize but do not carry very little weight. You may need to read how to adjust the straps to get a good fit. The material is strong and sewing is excellent. The compartments our perfect for a laptop the main reason for buying one. Most day packs have skinny straps. These are large and padded. One person thought is was to heavy. It is heavier than some but there are some with thin straps and made of nylon which s okay if that is what you want, Perfect pack for a day of hiking. I got the green cameo looking pack because it was at a giveaway price. I love the color.

I'm in law school so I usually take 3 or more huge casebooks to and from school. None of my friends can fit even one of the textbooks in their backpacks because they're scared that their backpacks will break. I can usually fit 2 casebooks (think of huge textbooks) just fine. I highly recommend this backpack to other students.
