These pants fit more like straight leg rather than relaxed fit. I have a 37-38 inch waist so I ordered a large. There is some room left in the waist, but the crotch is short so sitting down will require some adjustment. I think an XL would be better. Hope that helps.

The pants seem nice with only one exception. I bought the Medium size which is the correct size for me. The pants are difficult to put on because you can't get them over your butt. Once you get them on the seem to fit correctly. I have only used them once in the rain. They did not leak.
