    • A great movie for you and your kids!
We had the chance to see this movie in the theater before it came out on DVD (it had a limited theatrical run the month before it was released). We weren't sure what to expect, but I have to say that we loved it! The movie is bright, colorful and FUN! The animation is surprisingly good, and the voice acting top-notch. Usually, movies for younger kids can drag, but this one moved along at a perfect pace, keeping all the kids in the audience enthralled. And I was pleasantly surprised at how FUNNY it was, keeping the adults entertained, too. The filmmakers really did a nice job of making sure all ages can enjoy this. I also love the fact that this movie was done in conjunction with the Starlight Children's Foundation. Part of the proceeds from the ticket sales went to benefit that charity... and 50 cents from the sale of every DVD also go to help them. So not only are you purchasing a great movie, but you're also helping a good cause. And the theme of this movie is not only perfect for the children who benefit from the Starlight Foundation, but for kids everywhere: "I think I can!" All in all, if you have young kids, or are a kid-at-heart, this is a must buy! It's a beautifully made, POSITIVE movie with a great message and entertaining characters.     • Great for kids who love trains! A little scary at parts
Fantastic movie for little ones who love trains! One warning, there is a scary part (scary for 3 year olds). My son loves the movie but bedtime was tough for a couple days and he kept bringing up this scary character. He still insists on watching all the time so obviously not too scary but just something to keep in mind for the really young ones. Kinda don't understand why that's in a movie aimed at preschoolers. I'm not one of those crazy moms who won't let her kids watch anything either, my kids watch all the normal cartoons and movies everyone else does. ... show more

    • Super cute movie!
My kids love this movie. We found it on Netflix, and then got rid of Netflix for the cheaper Amazon Prime, but Prime did not have their favorite movie. So we needed to buy it. There are really cute songs in it (I sure wish I could find the soundtrack!), and great morals to it. It is a little scary. The nightmare train scared my boys for a while and we often skipped past that part, and I know other kids it has scared as well. But a really really cute movie! ... show more

    • I love the story line and the comic tones
My children (ages 2 and 4) absolutely adore this movie. They somehow concocted an alternative title and now call it "Engine Boy" (referring to the little boy in the movie). If they could, they would watch this movie every day, multiple times. I love the story line and the comic tones. It's a great modern version of a classic tale. I find the Nightmare Train a bit scary, but my boys seem to handle it fine. ... show more

    • WONDERFUL!!!!
This is the cutest little movie!! I did not think that I would like it, but I watched it with my 6 year old grandson, who is a huge train lover! :) This movie keeps you reeled in (no pun intended:) throughout the entire thing. There are a couple of things that may scare a very small child, but for ages at least 4 and up, this is just terrific. This has now become one of my favorite movies ever! :) I would recommend this to any small child who loves trains and who would not be afraid of a couple of tense scenes. This movie teaches about standing up to your fears and not letting anyone get in your way of becoming all that you can be. Two thumbs up on this movie!! ... show more

I really loathed this movie when we first watched it. The illustrations are very CGI, the story is cliche. But my kids loved it, so we bought it as a gift for them. I gotta say, it's growing on me. The song at the beginning is especially cute. The nightmare train part is not so scary that my kids get scared watching it (which IS the case with so many of the Disney movies... my daughter still talks about Ursula the sea witch stealing her voice). And it's got the lesson about determination, trying your best, etc. ... show more

My 2 year old loves this movie so much. It has a really nice message. The nightmare train in the movie could be a little scary. I'm always surprised that my son isn't scared of it. This movie is so good though for little ones, nothing at all that's questionable about it. No innuendos or anything like some kid movies do. ... show more

    • Love this movie
I got this movie for grandchildren. They have watched it over and over. I am going to order another copy for their house. The older grandchild says her favorite part in the movie is when Rusty says, "If you think you can, you will; if you think you can't, you won't!" Actually that is my favorite part too, what a good principle to teach a child! I would recommend this movie. It does have a few scary parts in it, but I've watched it with them and they were fine. The nightmare train was not able to stop the Little Engine from accomplishing her mission to return Rusty to the real world! I love the music in the movie as well. ... show more
