Every part of this game from the sounds, map design, difficulty, controls, progression, amazing. There are very few flaws with this game and when I finished it in only a month (most playthroughs including living off the switch would last longer) I bought the full DLC package for the game. I love exploration games and this is the first main Legend of Zelda title I've been able to play as well as one of the best exploration games I've ever played. If you don't life hard, cryptic, exploration games, you won't take the same amount of enjoyment I did from this title. This still might be outweighed if you enjoy visual storytelling, which is around every corner in the extremely detailed and realized overworld.

this zelda game is a bit overwhelming at first but after playing it for a while, it is one of the best games i have ever played. the world is HUGE. technically you can go straight to the final boss and beat the game if you want right after the tutorial but that would be very difficult. it's not a linear game so you can do whatever you want. there are plenty of side quests. but you should at least try to do the main ones like freeing the divine beasts, finding the master sword, and finding all memories to see the whole story and to make the final boss battle a bit easier.

After reading all the recent reviews about how the game box came rumpled, with the game or booklet missing, I was a little anxious when I recieved my copy of BotW Starter Pack. The corners were bent in, which is kind of annoying since Nintendo products are very good collectible items because of their limited print runs. Anyways, I opened the package, saw the booklet inside, and ripped off the game's plastic wrap and lo and behold there it was -- the game! So as long as it works when I get home from work and plug it in, then I am a generally satisfied customer. Still wish that the shipping center could handle this cardboard packaging with a little more care, but for $15/hr I guess it's not always guaranteed. Otherwise, it's a great game. I've played it on my friend's Wii U and was in love with the overall experience. 4/5 for rumpled packaging, 10/10 for a solid game inside the box.

Because of the pretty recent reviews from Dec 18- Jan on a few Switch games claiming they received empty cases or missing guides, I was a bit skeptical to order but I couldn't pass up when i saw it was one of the games that went down to $45 for some reason. So I hopped on it. The game came brand new untouched as listed game cartridge, guide and all and works great. I'm a big zelda fan and I love it so far, but its a bit early to give a review as I havent even reached the first village yet. But i will say, I think its much more comfortable and less clumsy if you play with the pro controller instead of the joycons.

I think it goes without saying that BOTW will take your breath away. Even for someone new to the Legend of Zelda series like me, it's a game that's super easy to get into and practically impossible to put down. I never intended on following the main quest once I knew there were horses to ride and a house to buy, and yet I found myself fighting blights because it followed the natural flow of the game. I love the scenery and music so much -- I've literally just left the game paused so I could listen to the music. I don't know if atmospheric is the right word, but the world building and each different area of the map is so detailed, I'm completely smitten. If you, like me, just got a Switch, this is 100% a must have. I've been playing way too much for my own good, but i t ' s s o g o o d ! ! !

Update to my first review. I thought the box had simply been opened, with the cartridge removed and replaced. Being stuck without a gift, I decided to open the rest of the way so that my daughter could at least play the game. However, when I opened the game case, there was no cartridge. Total fraudulent sale.
