Great quality. Very sturdy pieces. My 2 year old has yet to bend or tear them and we've had them for months now. It's perfect for her age. She isn't great at putting them together but is slowly figuring it out, which has made it a game we can play over and over. She's mastered finding the pieces that match, but is still working on being able to put the pieces together. She does get frustrated with it quickly, so this may be a better activity for a 3 or 4 year old if you want an activity that will entertain your child for longer.

Wanted to find a puzzle for my toddler because I love puzzles and because the simple board ones she has she had finally started mastering, so I looked for small puzzles with pieces that actually connect to each other. I came across this in my search and tried it on a whim. I am now a big fan. My daughter was about 20 months when I first pulled it out and she really struggled at figuring how to link the pieces together but within a couple time of playing she got the concept and quickly started really loving these. It definitely has helped her fine motor skills as she works to connect the two parts she knows match. We were also able to use them to talk about colors and sounds. Now at 2 she is a total pro at putting them together and still enjoys pulling them out during some quiet playtime. They are really sturdy and big so they've held up well and don't pose a choking hazard. Plus it's nice not having to search for a bunch of small pieces on the floor if they're dropped. Two pieces per animal puzzle was exactly what we needed to transition her into completing real puzzles and these worked out great. I'd highly recommend for a young toddler and would definitely buy again even at full price.

My daughter is 2 and is able to match the pieces, but she still needs help to actually put them together. You can't just slide one piece into the other - you have to put one in from above the other, so it is a little tough for a younger toddler. You also need to have the pieces on a hard surface to put them together, which is a bit of a problem for us because there are too many pieces to fit on our coffee table (the pieces are fairly large), and most of our house is carpeted. But, the pictures are very cute and the pieces are good quality. There are a mix of common animals as well as ones that a child may not see often (beaver, skunk, etc), which helps to learn more animals.

I really like this game. My son just turned 2 a few months ago and he really likes it. It seems that he will probably get a good year of use out of it at least. At his current age, he gets overwhelmed with how many pieces there are, so at first I would pick one head (or tail) and give him three tails (or heads) and he was able to choose the correct piece. Now, a month later, I give him 3 heads and 3 tails and he can match them. As far as putting the puzzle pieces together, they are thin and he tries to hold both pieces up in the air to put them together, but he isn't coordinated enough to make that work. So, I help him by holding one piece on the floor and he puts the other piece on top and lines it up to put them together. Some reviewers complained that their child couldn't put the pieces together; if you want them to be able to play with it by themselves without getting frustrated, they probably need to be closer to 2.5 or 3 years old or maybe you should buy a more expensive set with thicker wooden pieces. I paid less than $8 for this and am very pleased with it.
