Oh my GOD my 2 year old loves this book! The great thing about this book is that it is so much more detailed than your average tool book for kids. Instead of having a "saw" it has 4 different kinds of saws, 4 different kinds of wrenches, etc. If your kid is waaaaay into tools (for example, yesterday I told my son we could do something "fun" for dinner tonight. His immediate response: "I WANT TO GO TO SEARS!!!") then this is a great book for you! My son loves looking at the pictures so much that I have actually had to make up stories about the people building things in some of them, because he is just not getting enough. For example, in the picture where the father and son are building bookcases in the basement, that is Tommy and his father Michael, and Michael is an architect so he designed a set of bookcases that Tommy is helping to build for his little brother. I only wish it was twice as long! ... show more

My 3yo loves to "read" this book every night and it is one of the books that he keeps on his bed to flip through. I find the size to be perfect for this purpose because he can flip through it easily. He enjoys the pages with scenes of people working, and I think it's a great opportunity for open ended discussions! Overall I would recommend this book and found it to fit our needs perfectly. Cons: - lack of an index: it's not a thick/long book so flipping through isn't a big deal, but it's lacking the convenience of an index (to find the shovel page every night upon request) - animated pictures- the pictures used are really clear, but they aren't the real thing. This isn't necessarily a con, it's just a preference ... show more

My grandson -2ys old- has this book memorized. He loves the pictures and can name every tool in the book. I appreciate the story and large pictures. I also like the fact that it isn't babyish.

I bought this for my 2 year old grandson, who is enthralled by construction and power tools in general. He has greatly enjoyed this book, so I can highly recommend it for children. My grandson lives on the other end of the country, so I haven't actually seen the book and the photo shown by Amazon are terrible, so I cannot say whether the book is useful for an adult. ... show more

Lowes doesn't have one. :) !!! Home Depot rocks. I could have used one of these when I was a kid. (still could probably) has lots and lots of pictures of tools, descriptions and names. Probably best for 6 yo or older.
