  • Best resin I have ever used
This resin is absolutely amazing and easy to use. Easy to mix. (I do recommend an electric resin mixer) I use this to make knife handles and scales. After mixing it still looks a little cloudy, but after hardening (around 12 to 14 hours for 1/2 inch thick pours) it comes out crystal clear and hard as a rock with no bubbles or imperfections yet. Very impressive product and I will definitely purchase more if the price remains the same. $99 for 2 gallons of resin is quite the good deal. If you use pump heads on the gallon sized jugs, look for one that pumps at least 1 ounce per stroke or you will wear out your arm very fast. My first pump head produced 1/8 ounce per stroke.... The hardener is the consistency of water and pumps easily, but the resin is like cold honey and takes forever. Uses equal parts of each by volume, meaning for example, 1 cup of resin and 1 cup of hardener. Or 1 teaspoon of each. Just saying... Also put the thin hardener in your mixing cup first then the resin, it results in a clearer mix. ... show more

  • Great Results, but do your research on the process
Okay sooo without going too much into the epoxy process itself. First this 2 gallon epoxy was enough for my whole 42 sq ft kitchen. I would say if you're on the fence about 1 gal vs 2 gallons for a kitchen, thinking maybe you could be stingy... DON'T. Because if this is your first epoxy project you WILL waste or screw something up. PROS: This epoxy can be very forgiving. An hour into curing I realized I wanted to mess with my marble effect and was able to use the heat gun and go back in and do more blending. After 24 hrs it was no longer tacky so I didn't have to worry too much about dust or gnats or kids accidentally bumping. When mixed properly it doesn't give off fumes * It started smoking when i messed up but will mention that later* It was estimated to take around 10 days but it came in 3!!! In short we were very happy with the look we got, to be able to completely change our kitchen for less than $100 Here are some tips though: 1. For the white marbled look buy 2-3 white opaque resin! We only got one but struggled to make the resin look white and not translucent and had to struggle to find resin dye at our local art supply store but was stuck with cheap stuff from Jo Ann's. The black and silver on the other hand only required 1. Do not try to make grey, just buy it save yourself a headache 2. You may have read or hearr that you should put your resin outside to warm up. But we didnt take into account they didn't mean in Texas at 1 in the afternoon. Once we mixed it we could feel the container getting hot, this was our first time so we didnt realize something was wrong till it started smoking and bubbling. Within 1 minute ran outside and put it in a bucket of water and it instantly cured and hardened. There went a whole half gallon... thered a bunch of science about chemical reactions you can read up on before you start but moral of the story the more you mix the more it will heat up if you feel it getting hot pour it on your counters immediately. And don't put it outside if its over 80 degrees. It's better to just use the heat gun! 3. The resin is not good old soap and water friendly. It will manage to get everywhere even after laying tarp and wearing gloves. Please buy special heavy duty soap like Zep's Orange Heavy Duty Hand Soap ... show more

  • Worked better than expected.
Used this to make a fiberglass concrete mold for a 460-pound foundation footer. The epoxy mixed easy in some cheap plastic cups (doesn't melt cups like polyester resin). The epoxy soaked through 1.5 oz. fiberglass mat. Epoxy doesn't melt the adhesive in fiberglass mat that hold it together. So it takes a little working to get it into the mat fibers a bit more than polyester resin. The epoxy has a little better work time than polyester resin and didn't seem to mind putting new mixes near a previous mix in the process of setting. The finished concrete form held up to 18 castings, pounding on the form with a rubber hammer to drive out air and using an electric concrete vibrator inside the mold. The mold has no sign of failure or cracking of any kind. Pretty happy I took a chance on this epoxy, it was a great value and performed better than expected. Highly recommended and will buy again when needed. ... show more

  • Decent Epoxy, but I’ve used better.
This is a decent epoxy, and you can’t beat the price. It sets up really well, cures in about 24 hours, not a lot of heat (though I haven’t done any deep pours with it yet) and it mixes really well with mica powder (coloring). It does bubble a lot more than other brands of epoxy I’ve used, however that is easily solved by using a torch (I tried using my heat gun on it, but it didn’t get rid of all the bubbles). My biggest complaint is the ratios - 100/83. It just feels like more of a hassle than the 1:1 ratio I’m used to. But this is just based on weight (I use a scale). It’s made so you can do a 1:1 ratio by volume (1 cup resin to 1 cup hardener). My take on it is its really good for small scale projects, not so much for bigger stuff (just cause calculating the weight is a pain and the bubbles would add a lot of extra time to the project). ... show more

  • Easy to use, lovely finish, great value, I'll definitely buy again!!
First time using this brand. So far it's fantastic!! So far I've used silicone molds, and a "freepour" with inks and pigments. Works great in all cases, but I did notice a bit of a longer set time with alcohol inks, but it's all good. And the price for the 2 gallon kit was spot on, cheaper than any I've found. Great pot time, bout 40ish minutes before it gets too "taffy-y" to work with, but it's hot and humid now, so it could be longer. Bubbles pretty much take care of themselves if you let the mix sit for about 5-7 mins, and whatever's left I just hit with heat, and *pop*-gone. Sets to a lovely glossy, hard, and smooth finish. I don't even need to sand and buff and sand and buff etc anymore!! This will more than likely become my "go to" resin. No funky smell either btw. ... show more
