I washed it after using it and let it dry in the open and noticed little black specks on it after about the 3rd time washing and drying it and found out that it is MOLD GROWING ON IT!!! These blenders are not manufactured by the beauty blender company; they are a knockoff of the brand. The plastic container says "the original beaty blender makeup sponge" and on the REAL beauty blender packaging it says "wet.squeeze.bounce" under the name. The differences between a real one and this one are very noticeable once taken out of the container. Its not as soft and squishy and when you wet this, it becomes very large and feels almost coarse and rough, then never fully shrinks back down to normal size once dry. i've never owned a beauty blender so, i was concerned about the "fake" reviews. as soon as i got it i wet it and let it air dry to see if any mold would form or if it will dry down hard. i rinsed it for about 3 minutes under warm water, there was no bleeding and it did enlarge in size. very soft. i then let it air dry for almost 24 hours and there was no mold present. still very soft. i have yet to use it to see if it holds up after make up. i will try to update once i do. for now i'll leave it at 5 stars for being real and arriving undamaged/unused. i paid 30$ update January 2022: i did wash with soapy water and it did bleed a bit. it dried fine and still no mold. so i guess its just a hit or miss with this store. im still pleased. ... show more

The beauty blender is suppose to increase in size once wet. This did not so therefore it is fake. It's also not the same consistency as the real one. Sorry my beauty blender is dirty. But these two are both wet and the REAL one is to the left & it has expanded in size. DO NOT BUY FAKE!!!!

"The Original Beauty Blenders" are amazing and will fix just about any makeup mistake or shenanigan by blending it for the gods! This makeup tool really gives a nice airbrush look to one's makeup. It can be used with any type of makeup, cream foundations, setting powders, eye shadows, pigments, eye pencils, etc. The knock off beauty blenders don't work as well, as they are not made of the same space age materials. I have no idea what material "The Original Beauty Blender" is made of, but this is $20 well spent for anyone's makeup toolkit! ... show more

The sponge I received was NOT the original beautyblender. It is much smaller and feels like horribly cheap made material. I have had many beautyblenders in the past and this is not it.

Yes $20 for a makeup sponge is a bit much considering you can get a ton of those rubbery chintzy triangle ones we remember our moms using in the 80’s and 90s or maybe still (gift your mom a BB sponge if that’s the case!) But those other makeup sponges are not Beauty Blenders. I don’t know what exactly they do to level up the makeup sponge like they have but, when damp, it’s magical for flawless makeup. I’ve tried tons of sponges, other brands, high and low, and only Beauty Blender or the $4 Elf concealer sponge have impressed me. I like the nude color too, it doesn’t look as gnarly when makeup gets on it. ... show more

I used this to apply concealer around my eyes & within a few weeks of occasional use (I don't wear make-up daily) little pieces started to come off around the tip. Also, every time I rinsed the sponge, the water was bright pink! I bought this because of all the rave reviews I kept reading about it in every magazine I seemed to look at - but surely this can't be how they are supposed to perform?
