I have been using the Lavender scent since 2007. I stopped using an electric razor, and went to manual shaving, and using this after shave which makes my skin nice and smooth. The women at the deli where I get breakfast in the morning noticed. Is it expensive? Yes, but well worth it!

This is a good product, but I couldn't quite give it five stars based entirely on my personal tastes. I should start by saying I think the AoS Sandalwood after-shave balm is a 5 star product. The lavender balm has a slightly too citrus-y and light scent to me. I don't think it's a bad scent at all, but it's just not as earthy as I normally use. There was also a very slight consistency difference. The Lavender balm seemed to be just a touch more fluid than the Sandalwood was. I can't think of why that would be, so it's possible it was just a fluke. That being said, this is a great balm. A little bit goes a long way, so you don't need to apply a lot. It doesn't feel thick of heavy, but leaves your skin soft and supple. Like all AoS balms, this is good for sensitive or alcohol-intolerant skin. And the scent is not overpowering. There is a legitimate question of whether a balm is worth $40, and that's hard to answer. From a pure performance perspective, you can buy much cheaper balms that will perform almost as well if not just as well. There is definitely a premium mark up for AoS products. On the other hand, AoS scents are among the best in the business. Whether this is a good value proposition depends a lot on whether you care a great deal about the scent.

This review will be the same for the Pre Shave Oil, the Shaving Cream, and the aftershave balm, all lavender for sensitive skin as I purchased all three simultaneously and use all three together. I have always had issues with razor burn on the base of my neck as I have hairs growing at all different angles and typically do not take the time to shave with the grain at all the angles. I have used in the past brands ranging from Zihr to Gillette fusion to barbosol. I have tried aftershaves from I Colinali to Old Spice to straight rubbing alcohol. No combination I have found has worked as well as the art of shaving. I do use a brush to apply, which takes a few seconds longer than one's fingers, but those few seconds are the only drawback I've found. One thing to be mindful of is the scent. I recommend heading to your local nordstroms and smelling the different options before purchase. The sandlewood is definitely more masculine, and that will be my next purchase. This, though seemingly strong during use, does not have a strong odor within 5min and within the hour, is as unscented and the unscented version. I will be purchasing again.

I use this on my neck to prevent bumps and it works great. I was using bump stopper 2 I got on amazon but that stuff didn’t work nearly as well as this does. I literally haven’t had a single bump on my neck after shaving ever since I started using this after shaving. It’s been almost a year and a half now since I first got this. My method is to lather up my neck with warm water and hair conditioner, shave, rinse with warm water after shaving till conditioner feels gone then rinse more with cold water to close the pores, then dry, then add a little dab of this after shave. This small bottle lasted me a long time and it smells great too!
