Great art and concept sketches. I am a huge fan of this art style for the game. It is missing any content from roughly the last 6 months. With the frequency of updates this is expected but still a bummer the most current characters and in my opinion, coolest skins are not represented here. I've put a LOT of time into the Marvel Rivals game with my friends. So, when I saw this art book, I took a chance. Having owned a lot of other Dark Horse books, my expectations were high. What it is: Awesome art of characters, locations, and animations. What it isn’t: A book that will show you something you haven’t already seen. I’ve bought a lot of art books for different games and movies in the past, and this one is beyond underwhelming—which is sad because the art for Marvel Rivals is amazing. My biggest issue is that this book doesn’t show anything new. I was hoping to see concepts and ideas for characters that weren’t used, but it doesn’t. It’s very much just costumes and abilities exactly as in the game. It also only covers Season 1, so you won’t see Emma Frost, Ultron, Phoenix, or Blade. There are also quality-control issues. The first character highlighted is Adam Warlock, and he’s labeled as a duelist. Any Rivals fan would know that’s the last thing the game needs is more DPS. Each character is given 4 pages, following the same formula: • Page 1: Intro page using art from the in-game character selection menu. • Page 2: A few concept art pieces of the character in their default skin (most of which you’ve already seen in the game). • Page 3: Breakdown of in-game abilities. • Page 4: Art of a few in-game alternate skins—again, nothing new. ... show more
