  • Must-Read for managers! Keep your good people!
A must-read for leaders today. I recently left a job because middle management would not take the sometime-awkward step of removing the 'unpleasant' and 'office disturbing' problem employee. When I put in my two weeks, the middle manager hung his head and said, "Now that we're losing YOU, we need to stop kicking this can down the road and do something about our problem." I was the 3rd to leave that great program because of this individual. This 'team lead' had few technical skills and ZERO people skills yet they kept her in place because they were afraid of her. No excuse! My customers all gasped when they heard I was leaving and said, "WHO will we call now?!" MANAGERS! READ THIS BOOK! TAKE CARE OF YOUR EMPLOYEES' NEEDS! LISTEN TO THEIR LEGITIMATE ISSUES! KEEP YOUR GOOD PEOPLE! Take that 'awkward step' and your organization will grow rather than have to retrain every 2 years! ... show more

Some books entertain, some inspire, some inform, some touch your heart, some make you think, some make you better...THIS BOOK DOES IT ALL!!! This book is packed with not only information, but Heather shares a lifetime of wisdom in 76 short pages that I promise you will not be able to put down once you get started. To wit, page 46, "Survival of the fittest is not the same as survival of the best. Leaving leadership development up to chance is foolish." • Brilliant read full of golden nuggets!
The 7 Intuitive Laws of Employee Loyalty is a gem! It is wonderfully written with a easy flow. While reading, I folded down the corners of pages that had something I felt was profound and wanted to save. By the time I finished, my book looked like an accordion because of the many folds. The book is full of golden nuggets. Heather Younger understands the viewpoints of both employees and leaders and delivers her message to the latter group in a unique style. This book is a must read for those who want to lead successfully. I am ordering additional copies for two of my former staff that were recently promoted! ... show more

  • Decent But Basic
I am just over halfway through with this book, and so far I have found it to be only decent. The majority of it is simply common sense, but I do wish my former leadership would read and adopt these concepts. The book is short, only about 90 pages of actual text, and written in casual, conversational style. The ideas presented are good but are not delved into with great detail. I was also disappointed at the amount of typos and formatting mistakes in this book. I allow that perfection is difficult and there may be one typo in a book this size, but I have already found several and I am not even two-thirds in. Again, most of the information is common sense, basically explaining that managers should treat employees as if they actually matter. To be honest, it's really sad that such books even have to exist, because concepts such as recognizing employees, providing career pathing, and receiving feedback should be standard operating procedure for companies anyway. ... show more
