Description

Have you ever wondered what the best way to stay hydrated is while enjoying the outdoors? That problem is easily solved with the Hydration Bladder by TETON Sports. They’re convenient, designed for any hydration ready backpack, and made of a strong, durable silicone-based material. Each has a large opening to make refilling and cleaning easy. You will want to wash your bladder before your first use. Rinse out your bladder with lemon juice or mild soap and warm water to remove any residues—then let your bladder dry out completely before reassembling it. You may need to prop the bladder open with paper towels to allow it to dry completely. Once it is dry, reassemble it. Be sure to tighten the hose at the base of the bladder—the O-ring gasket needs to sit down into the receiver so it can seal properly. This will prevent leaking. The kink-free sip tube is lightweight, but durable and the cushioned bite valve is easy to open or close: simply pull the mouth piece to open it and push it closed when you’re done drinking.

This thing works great. The closure on the bladder never leaks. I've used mine extensively and it is durable. People complain about the bite valve but you just have to bite it in the right spot and it flows fine. It's a great bladder for the price. Other bladders or like $30 and are not any better.

It’s a great value. As far as the taste comments go, I gave it a quick rinse with a very dilute vinegar and water solution. The water tastes clean and just like out of the tap. The leak where the tube connects to the bag that everyone complains about, just snug up the o-ring with some needle-nose pliers. The bite valve complaints lead me to believe that people are placing their teeth too far back on the valve. For maximum flow, you want your teeth at the very end of the valve. Lastly, the cap and opening are the same as a wide mouth Nalgene bottle and you can screw an MSR filter onto it. This hydration bag is great, especially for ten bucks. Update after using for 3 hikes.... I still think it is a great value. There is something to be said for the bladders that can be turned inside out for cleaning, but they cost 3 times more. I just do a thorough job of washing and drying when I am done using. ... show more

So for the cost this seems adequate for moderate use. I have camelback and gregory baldders and even several $9 Chinese knock offs that are substantialy thicker material. I honestly can't think of a good time to have a hydration pack give out and it could be fatal out in a desert (where i frequenly hike). I have several other Teton products tent, and several sleeping bags that have been fantastic and was hoping to have found another cheaper option that was as good or better that the expensive bigger names. Sadly I was not super impressed with the material thickness used on this. It's thin enough and of a similar material as the others that it can't be worth the gamble that it will hold up just as well. Not with an item as important as my hydration source. Hopefully they consider a slight increase in quality and just raise the price a bit to bring it up to the level of it's competition. ... show more

Caveat: not used for hiking yet. I recently received these and based on experience, I often assemble and leak check then by filling them with water and letting them sit on the table for several hours. One of two I bought had a leak. Disappointed? A little but I was aware the risk based on other reviews but the price was worth the risk. Fortunately, I'm within the return/replace window to get a new set. I'll keep the ones that don't leak and return the leaky one(s). The easy Amazon return process makes it worth the risk at the low price. That all said, buy early enough to check the equipment and be able to request a replacement if needed. Update (2019-08-13): Took the bladders hiking a couple times now and have had no issue with them. No leaks and easy water delivery. My son and I had no problems using them. So check that they don't leak before using them and you should be good to go. ... show more

The two bottles (18 oz) of water I'd been carrying weren't enough to last 5 miles in 110 degree F heat, but this plus those two bottles gets me through a 5 mile run at 110 F and I'm only one or two pounds lighter than before the run started, after it is finished... if I drink all this water.
