Incorrect Sizing and Hidden Return Fees

I ordered two sizes (12.5 and 13) since I normally wear 12.5s at my local climbing gym, but both pairs were significantly smaller than expected and very uncomfortable. The return process also included additional fees, which were not obvious upfront. Given how critical proper fit is for climbing shoes, this online purchasing experience wasn’t worth the hassle or extra costs. I’d recommend trying these in a physical store instead. ... show more

Worn to a frazzle

I have had these now for four months and I climb pretty frequently (3 to 4 times week). I am relatively new to climbing and have been at it for about a year and I climb at about a 5.9/5.10a. I am writing this review after having wore a hole in the rubber already and am doing a look back. I will say I am happy with my purchase as this is a well constructed shoe at very reasonable price. I was wanting to upgrade from my beginner neutral shoe and thought this would be a good move. I was also looking for a non-leather shoe after my first pair stretched by nearly a size. I enjoy the look, feel, and structure they offer in climbing. Comfortable enough for a climbing shoe. Fit was as expected, I wear a 7/7.5 street shoe in women's and got a 7 in these and they were snug. However, now as I am looking for a new shoe I am not getting another pair of Tenaya's for the following reasons: The review on the smell they hold is no joke. After a month of wear, these shoes reak and they make your feet smell. Not sure if this is a common synthetic shoes thing or what. The heel was baggy (very noticeable on heel hooks) on me and I realize that I'm probably in the women's low volume category for shoes and will need a shoe that fits that need- so not an issue with the shoe or Tenaya who accurately market this shoe as high volume. ... show more

excellent shoes

super comfortable, I order the same size of my sneakers, they fit great, I can wear them for the whole two hours I'm wall climbing and I'm so comfortable, and I loooveee they are vegan!

Okay for gym climbing

A so-so shoe. Bought my street size and the fit was snug at first, but after a few weeks I think i could have gone a half size down. Thick rubber on the inside of the toe reduces sensitivity, making these not great for edging on smaller holds. The rubber isn't the most sticky either. Not great for smearing. Nice for heel hooks, though. I'll keep these around for casual climbing but these aren't going to my go-to for sending harder routes. ... show more

So far, so good after 2 months

I have only been climbing (all indoors) for about 3 months (not even, actually), so I lack the experience or even vocabulary to say much about these shoes, since this is the only pair of climbing shoes I've ever owned. In fact, my first month of climbing I just used my hiking shoes, which are small and flexible. I bought these when I started climbing on 5.10x's and needed a smaller, stronger toe. I normally wear a size 10.5 (men's) and these are 11.5. I wear them WITH socks. I do not like to wear shoes without socks, so this was deliberate. The fit is tight but not uncomfortable, and so I wear them while I belay and walk around the climbing gym. Tenaya insists that their shoes hardly stretch, if at all. I can confirm that, at least with this pair. The toe is firm, but overall the shoe is not what I would call overly aggressive. There is some bend. The straps are Velcro. This makes putting them on and taking them off very easy, but I imagine the Velcro will wear out at some point. Overall, the make of the shoe seems solid. ... show more
