  • Not very easy to use.
Note that this has a fairly large margin of error and limited range. You should probably look at the specs carefully before buying. A not-too-uncommon potency will exceed that range. You can accommodate this by taking your infused oil and adding uninfused oil, then multiplying. So 1 part infused oil, 1 part uninfused oil, run the test and double the result. Note that that also doubles the margin of error of your infused oil. This is helpful if you are concerned you might have created something strong enough to harm you, but otherwise I'd pass. And at this price it's probably better to just consume small quantities until you are sure of what you are doing. If you are looking for the kind of accuracy you get in the dispensary, this won't do the trick. ... show more

  • I really wanted this to work but I have concerns
I really wanted this device to work, and it is phenomenal to have a battery powered spectrometer that can measure THC concentration. I ordered this as a new product, and it was delivered today. It came in a really fancy case and it appeared to be high quality right off the bat. I inspected the components and was disappointed to find a major scratch in the middle of the cuvette. I tried to remove this with q-tips, paper towels, and a bit of rubbing alcohol. The scratch stayed so I do not feel confident in the readings. I tried to use it anyways. The first two readings that I did were over the 15mg capacity of the device. This is not a problem at all since you can dilute the sample and use math to calculate the actual concentration as others have mentioned. I did this procedure and was able to get multiple readings on various samples. It is very challenging to stabilize the temperature of a product prior to reading. The manufacturer should really consider redesigning this product to include a heater that can heat the cuvette to a known temperature and simplify the process. The videos recommend an infrared thermometer, but these do not provide an accurate reading if the sample has a reflective surface. Infrared thermometers have a loose tolerance, and the reflectivity of the surface can alter the readings. I used a high quality thermometer probe instead. I am concerned that the testing procedure does not get a baseline of the carrier fluid. The device zeroes with a cuvette removed. They obviously compensate for the cuvette. This testing procedure does not take into account the diversity of products on the market. For example, butter / ghee can come in a range of colors, and some manufacturers even add food coloring. The manufacturer programmed this with a standard "butter" constant, but I am concerned that the readings will be significantly altered due to the variety of products on the market. It would be nice if they have a high accuracy testing method that allows you to "zero" the device with a cuvette that contains butter or ghee without THC, and compare it to a sample with THC. I didn't have any glitches with the app, but I think they can improve a few features. I sent an email and asked the manufacturer to consider improving certain aspects. I did get some readings that loosely correlated with the concentration I was expecting, but I do not feel it is truly a reliable test. It is a novelty test, but I would like to wait for the next few iterations of improvements. ... show more

  • Extremely good for tincture, not so much butter.
It has some flaws, but is accurate and consistent with tinctures. Keep the tray clean, debris free, and the correct temperature, and all is well. Testing butter isn't so simple seemingly because it is quite difficult to keep the temperature in the correct range. The testing range is a little low also, only being able to read up to 15mg per ml, but with a little math you can dilute to make it usable. Also, I would recommend to make a small box to run the tester in. Outside light seems to impact the results. ... show more

  • I you need a replacement tray forget it!
I never used another machine to test for accuracy. I simply trusted the results. Somehow my tray started breaking down. I mean dissolving. I am not sure that this was because of product failure but I am guessing it was my fault. I went online to get a replacement tray. They cost $50.00 and you need to send your machine into them for it. I understand the whole calibration issue, Calibrate it with a glass tray maybe. I think it's time to buy a different brand. ... show more

  • Capacity way too low
I vape, so I have ABV. I infuse it in alcohol. I had to dilute it 4-1 to get a reading. What would I have to do to measure an actual fresh weed infusion? 20-1? 50-1? 15mg/ml is far to low. I had to test 8 times before I got it diluted enough to get any reading. Each time the very sticky tray needs to be cleaned and dried. ABV is already massively degraded. That this thing can't handle that, and has a 15% spread (so my product isn't 36.8mg/ml, it's between 31-41mg/ml) makes it an expensive toy, nothing more. That and the tray is difficult to clean, and if you damage it in any way, the whole thing has to be sent back to be calibrated with a new tray, which they don't actually sell anyhow. On the upside, I ordered a tcheck2 but got a tcheck3 at the same price. Yippee. Overall, unhappy. We'll see if experience makes it better, but that tiny capacity will make it tough, and I'm not terribly hopeful. Also, according to this device, my edibles would be around 20mg each, but they get me high, and nothing below 100mg has ever gotten me high, so I don't know if it can be trusted. ... show more

  • It is good
It is very confusing to learn to use. We had to watch several videos to figure out how to use it then you need to do a math conversion. Thank goodness I am good at math my sister couldn’t figure it out.

  • Save your money!
This tester is a joke. Several tests on the same infused oil came up with vastly different measurements every time. Testing infusions only gives you mg/ml, not THC or CBD percentages. Hate to shell out 2k for a purpl pro, but I don't know what else will work. Anyway, DO NOT BUY!
