Instructions a little unclear with packaging. But once you figure it out, very useful. I use this for mycology research lab work and it replaced my seemingly more dangerous butane torch (lol). Essentially, the device takes roughly 8-10 minutes to heat up to the correct heat. I use “II” which is 825F setting and you know it is ready when glowing orange out of the device and there are heat vapors escaping the mouth of tbe device (youll be able to see em) and can technically sterilize glass vials against the vapors. Instructions say to only insert inoculation loops, but you can put whatever in it if it fits. For a metal scalpel or inoc loop, You must have a handle separating the hot bits from your hands… worst case use duct tape to make a little handle (as the heat can travel up the metal object quickly). Once inserted you only need count to 10 for full sterilization; 15 for ultimate sterility (anything hotter and you risk heat damage to self, the device etc. my IG: mycho_chaotix ... show more

    • Worked great but now won't power up.

I've owned it for about 9 months. It worked very well, and we use it almost every work day. We went away for 4 day vacation, and upon return can no longer get to power up ? We checked with a volt/ohm meter and AC power is getting through the switch and into the IC onboard, but not sure how to troubleshoot it beyond this. Looking to contact the manufacturer see if they can assist in repairing it. It seems simple - power cord - switch - single PCB - ceramic material Stay tuned... ... show more
