These pins are great for quilting and sewing. As quilting requires a great deal of pressing, these are perfect. Easy to handle, remove, and can be used with an iron. Also, unlike some pins with larger heads, the iron doesn't create a "bump" in the fabric when pressing. I have also purchased the blue and green versions of this pin. All versions are good quality, heat resistant, and easy to grip. The pink version (this one) is longer, best for larger or thicker projects. The blue version is between the pink and green sizes, a good general purpose sewing or quilting pin. The green pins are short and very fine, best for applique or working with small or delicate projects. One flaw, the pink pins are so long they barely fit in the container. As all sizes use the same container the other colors fit fine. BTW, the container is great, sturdy, attractive and a nice size.

I got these pins as a splurge since I’ve taken up quilting recently and I have to say, I really do like them a lot. Im not entirely convinced all the different “sizes/specialties” are all that different. The only real difference to me is the length of the pins (and of course the color). But they are super easy to use and undeniably comfortable to pin/unpin with.

I am a relatively new quilter but am lucky enough to be the daughter-in-law of an AMAZING QUILTER who knows just about everything about the work! When I was venting to her about my “lousy straight pins” that repeatedly bent, poked holes in my expensive quilting fabrics, or lost their heads, she suggested Taylor Seville’s Magic Pins. WHO KNEW THAT THERE ARE DIFFERENT QUALITIES IN STRAIGHT PINS?! BUT, THERE IS! THESE PINS - both the Comfort Grip green pins and these Comfort Grip extra long pink pins ROCK! They aren’t bending at all (even when I’m putting them through 8-10 pieces of fabric at a time. They are slipping in between the threads of my fabric without catching on threads or poking holes in my fabric. And, those green and pink comfort grips aren’t coming off and really are easier to grab and pin! I thought the price for these was ridiculous . . . UNTIL THEY ARRIVED at my house! Now, I’ll be buying even more of them . . . and giving them as gifts to new quilters, too! What I thought was an unnecessary splurge on myself has turned out to be a new-found necessity in my work! Love them and you will, too!

Reason for only 3 stars is they will bend easily if too hard to put pin in a seam.I use them in my quilting and embroidery patterns.When recent embroidery pattern I was putting a back together and I had 2 pieces of fabric with one layer of cutaway. As I put the pin in .It bent so I threw it away.So I put one in but not in the seam.I went back away from the 2 seams connecting and sewed it slowly and I am done. Just be careful when the seam is real stiff.

I guess I'm still getting used to these "Magic" pins for quilting. These are longer than the standard quilting pins and seem to be finer than the previous pins I've used. I do like the comfort grip on the end as they are easier to use as you direct the pin into the fabrics. They have 2 different packages - one with 50 pins and the other containing 100. There are slight differences in price points depending on the retailer, so I recommend visiting your quilt shop and ask if they have any you could "test drive" before you buy!
