Tarnish vanished right before my eyes! I bought this to clean a copper sink for a friend (that I didn’t even know was copper because that’s how bad it was tarnished.) After reading reviews I was excited to clean some jewelry that I had almost gotten rid of because no jewelry cleaner could remove the tarnish. But I kept it because it was special!! Tarnished or not. Results are amazing. Inexpensive. Easy to use. Get this for all your needs. No scrubbing required. I put this into a little shot glass, added enough to cover fully, did not soak for more than 2 min, like it said, and after mere seconds the tarnish vanished! I poured it into the copper sink, and it completely took the tarnish off the sink as well! 😂

Always provides a beautiful shine to my sterling silver. Works quickly on jewelry and the shine last a long time. Easy to use if you wear protective gloves - they are a must when cleaning any metal with chemicals. I usually tackle several pieces of jewelry at a time by filling a small disposable plastic container with the Tarnex and dropping the pieces in. It only takes a few seconds if you shift the jewelry around in the liquid. Remove the pieces and rinse under cold water. Place on a clean paper towel and dab off the excess water. Between wearing, store the jewelry in NON-PVC poly-plastic zipper bags and the shine remains for a long, long time.

Tarn-X reacts chemically with tarnish on silver (i.e., sterling/silver plated items) so it can be rinsed away. It works very quickly (2-3 minutes). I apply it using cotton balls. Being a liquid, it easily gets into and removes tarnish from nooks and crannies. However, it leaves behind a dull yellowish tint. I usually remove this by applying a small dab of a conventional metal polish and wet rubbing it with water to restore the shine and correct silver color. The photos included with this review show (1) a tarnished silver-plated coaster, (2) the coaster after 2X treatment with Tarn-X, showing the dullish yellow cast left behind after rinsing, (3) the coaster after subsequent rubbing down with a conventional silver polish, showing the restored silver color and improved shine, and (4) the (originally) white sock that I used with the polish in this instance, showing the amount of black that was removed by the conventional polish following the Tarn-X treatments. Tarn-X contains a moderately strong acid and produces a sulphur smell. And it needs to be rinsed off within a couple of minutes of application. I can easily see where it could cause damage if left on too long or used on the wrong kind of material. Bottom line is that Tarn-X works great to speedily remove tarnish from silver/silver-plated items, but in my experience you have to be careful and still have to use a metal polish afterwards.

Restored and cleaned my silver and copper items very well. Unlike various pastes, it does not scrascuff the Cleans silver and copper very well. Unlike polishing paste it does not scratch or scuff the surface . Being a liquid cleaner it gets into smallest cracks and crannies. It is important to 1. First thoroughly wash and clean the surface with soap and warm water to remove oil and wax 2. Apply Tarn-X with a soft, fluffy cloth or cotton ball. If item is small dip the item in Tarn-X. 3. Do not leave Tarn-X on the surface for a long time. Wash it off with dishwashing soap and warm water. 4. Dry thoroughly with soft towel by dabbing or pressing. Do not rub. 5. If Tarn-X does not remove the tarnish, then your item is most probably not silver or copper, but some other material, such as steel, chrome or a metal alloy.

This was a replacement purchase of the same product. I like that it immediately removes tarnish from my silver jewelry. It’s very easy to use and the bottle will last a long time. What I don’t like is the smell. If you don’t like strong odors don’t use it. As with any chemical you need to be aware of the warning labels.

I used this on several pieces of silver jewelry. The pure silver ones ended up clean and shiny. The plated ones ended up permanently stained. Use with caution!
