I bought this for my daughter as a Christmas present. I didn’t want to pay an elaborate sum. This was reasonably able to assemble. Some holes are not pre drilled but those were braces that didn’t have to be in a particular place so it worked out fine. The color was good.     • Heavy and a lot of hardware

This arrived today, I have yet to put it together. I am a middle aged woman and this is going to kick my behind, I think lol. It's really heavy but packaged well. No damage. I did take everything out of the box, without making too big a mess of the plastic and foam. The instructions are in the box with the hardware (found this out after I couldn't find them IN the large box. The instructions are pictures that made my head spin so I put everything away until the weekend comes here. Then...I sat on the couch and thought "what the heck did I get myself into here?" Well, my logical brain kicked in. Work smarter not harder. Youtube will be your bff when you put it together...there is a video. Just put Tangkula coffee table lift top assembly in the search. You'll find it. Granted they make it look easier than it probably is, but i feel way better about the process. Wish me luck! ***UPDATE*** 10/28/2018....Well, I finally did it...I put this puppy together...by myself, in about an hour and a half. First tip, if you have long hair, you best tie it back cause you're going to sweat. Second tip, get you a bottle of water or a soda, no booze til AFTER you get it together. So what I did was set my laptop on the floor with that youtube video I mentioned above and left the cursor on pause. I'm sure, because without that, what took me 90 minutes would have taken me several hours with the crapola instructions. Now that it's all together, what I don't like: the color is way darker than what is in the picture. It's really slippery, very shiny and very easily scratched so be careful. I wish it was just a couple inches wider but I knew the measurements when I bought it. What I like, I work from home, which means my couch most of the time. I like that I can sit up straight and work because the top rises up and I can adjust it to where I am most comfortable. I love the storage factor. Everything that was ON my previous coffee table is now IN this one which makes for so much less clutter. The shelves underneath...love. The media could not be loaded. Costway, not exactly the name I associate with quality. But this piece is surprisingly decent. The box arrived with a few minor blemishes, but the contents were unharmed. I think some reviews mentioned lack of instructions or pre-drilled holes. Mine came with both. Now where the lifters mount only had 4 of 8 holes pre-drilled. It’s fine though because you use the 4 holes for alignment and the screws are self-tapping. Just be careful not to over tighten them to the point of stripping wood. I set my drill to a 3 on torque and hand tightened from there. The one pain was the top board. It’s the last piece to put on and the room to work with is tiny. I highly recommend using a wrench and pulling the pistons off to give your tool more clearance. I happened to have a 90 degree drill which wonders. Cool mod idea: use a hole saw in the two bottom most pieces. You can run an extension cord up through it and charge your stuff under the lid. ... show more

I love this table. It’s very solid and functional. Consistent with the other reviews it took me about 1 1/2-2hours to put together, but I had a fairly easy time doing it. As long as you follow along with the pictures there’s no problem. I am a more visual learner though, so maybe that’s why I didn’t have much of an issue. A power drill would be helpful and would speed up the process, but I was able to get by without one with a couple blisters on my hand as a result. DEFINITELY do what other people advised and install the table top hard ware to the table top first. I don’t even know how you would install the screws upside down. I was able to put this together by myself. Doable, but if you have extra help just go for it. Since I didn’t have a power drill nor a second person I found it was easier to screw in the screws that attach the hard ware to the table base first then unscrew them, before attaching the hardware because there isn’t already predrilled holes, just areas marking where the screw go. Since I attached the table top sitting on the ground, hunched over, with it resting on my back while I craned my neck to see, I didn’t have much leverage to screw them in otherwise. I don’t know if that makes sense. Maybe you’ll realize what I mean when you get to that last step. MY ONLY COMPLAINT, is the stickers that label the pieces do not remove easily and are the kind that just tear apart and leave behind residue no matter how gently and carefully I try to remove them. I left most of them behind to attack later with some goo gone. Other wise awesome table! I am a simpleton and think it’s just the coolest thing that the table top lifts up. I eat a lot on the couch like the lazy piece of trash I am so this table is great for that. Also awesome for using my gaming PC. 10/10. ... show more
