Description

The QuikMelt Pro 120 ounce top loading kiln is the perfect solution for the metal treating artist looking for mobility. It works effectively with gold, silver, lead, copper, zinc, and more. With its ultra-light 10 lb compact design (measures 6″ x 6″ x 12″), the QuikMelt 120 offers the best of functionality and portability. Includes a 120 Troy oz crucible, digital control panel, 1500 watts of power, and it rapidly heats to over 2200°F (1205°C) for all of your metal working needs. Equipped with 1500 Watts of power, a standard household plug, and exclusive RapidHeat technology, enabling full firing in as little as 8 minutes, the QuikMelt Pro is the ultimate tool for handling your projects. These kilns are designed with a lightweight, but extremely durable Gemcolite Alumina Fiber insert formed using a composition of alumina-silicate, alumina and multiple fibers and include both organic and inorganic binders for excellent handling strength and integrity at high temperatures. Please note that due to the nature of raw steel under extreme temperatures, the steel surface will experience tempering and coloration changes over time. 10, 30, 60, and 100 Troy oz sizes also available and will include their corresponding crucible in ounces, plus a pair of 13" stainless steel ring tongs.Features: Melts gold, silver, and other precious metals. I really like the kiln but the first time I used it I got electrocuted. I think it's because I pulled the crucible out at an angle and it brushed against the heating filament and since the tongs and crucible are very conductive it electrocuted me. To be fair there's a warning about this, I somehow missed it. Just be sure not to tilt the crucible while taking it out, if you get electrocuted and your hand seizes up you might spill the metal. I really like the precise temperature control and fast heating times though, it's much simpler and compact then a gas furnace, very good overall. ... show more

    • Too expensive and just ok
I had high hopes for this unit but its just ok. It takes 30 plus minutes to get to 2200f which for a crucible that small and a price that high is too long. The crucibles last only 5 heat cycles and cost a fortune. Get one of the $200 machines available you will be happier.

    • Useless junk
Bought one of these via Amazon in 2017. Had it for 6 weeks before I got around to using it. The heating element burnt out after one hour of use. Too late to return it, totally useless! I am $500 out of pocket. If I could give minus stars I would.
