Let me start by saying that I’m an avid edged tool enthusiast with both knives and axes in the several hundred dollar range in my collection. This is obviously not among my finest pieces. That said, I appreciate it for what it is. It should be considered a prop, and I enjoy playing with it while watching medieval entertainment. Neither the materials nor the craftsmanship make this a usable tool, and attempting to use it as such would likely damage it and/or cause injury. Its modest price and traditional design make it a fun piece for display or just playing with. I see other reviews with the intention of actually using it which concerns me. Please buy an actual tool if you need to perform actual ax tasks. Pick this up if you just want to appreciate it as a fun (adult) toy. ... show more

    • Don't waist your money if you are expecting something useful out of the box
Uneven grind, and to call it dull would overstate its edge. I have seen better edges on toys. Very disappointed so far. I will sharpen it; it might hold an edge. We'll see.

    • Sharpened well and I like it's weight.
I bought this because my wife and I are getting gotten into hiking and it's light weight and the length of the handle allows me to have a solid chopper that I can carry while saving weight overall weight I can carry. This allowed me to carry an axe vs carrying a machete as my chopping tool. It took less than 10 minutes to get the edge I wanted on the blade. The price on this was very good. The first one I received the handle had beautiful wood grain <except> there was a small tree knot with a crack at the business\blade end of the handle. Unacceptable, but return was flawless and received a new one. The wood grain was not as aesthetically pleasing but wood is random, and it had no knots so cannot complain. Good value for price, nice size, good heft for splitting kindling, but defo NOT a splitting axe for chopping wood. I have lots of experience with those tasks. ... show more

Came fast and looks nice but for the low price I have low expectation. Blade is dull and when I say dull I mean an 1/8” flat on the cutting edge. Head wobbles a fraction on the wood handle, so I’m not sure if it would fly off? Handle wood is solid and looks nice, seems strong. Maybe with some sharpening and addressing the handle wedge it could be a nice axe? We shall see. ... show more

    • Very poor quality.
I bought this because it was cheap and I needed a prop axe, which is exactly what this is. The axe head was cracked in two places, with one crack going through the entirety of the head. The head was also covered in the stain they use for the wood, so much so that you couldn't touch it without your fingers becoming brown. The blade is practically squared off and uneven, significantly thicker at the top than the bottom. The handle is a nice color, but came with a series of quite noticeable scratches and chips. Even though the axe suits my purposes, I rated it a one star because it is being sold as an actual axe. I would never, ever hit anything with this axe as I'm quite sure it wouldn't take much to crack the head in two. You really shouldn't buy this if you need an axe you intend to actually use. ... show more

    • Good size for many tasks
Because it is mass manufacture item and very low price it will be necessary to put some work in to it if cleaned up and sharpened it will do carving tasks well.. it will also perform axe tasks very satisfactorily. It's light and carries easily. Good addition to any kit .
