On my vehicle, the same bulb type is used for both high- and low-beams. When my low-beam bulbs burned out after 5 years of service (2010), I moved the existing high-beam bulbs to replace the low-beams, and replaced the high-beams with Sylvania Silverstars. Since my vehicle used the same bulb type for high- and low-beam, I was able to directly compare the Silverstars vs. my stock bulbs. The Silverstars emit an almost pure white light, while my stock bulbs have that "incandescent yellow" look. The difference is striking! I can't give an objective review of brightness - let's just say they do a great job of lighting up the road, and they're certainly no less bright than the stock bulbs. Another four years later (2014), and the Silverstars are still working great in the high-beam position. My low-beam (stock) bulbs finally gave out, and I've now replaced all bulbs with Silverstars - hence the recent purchase. Hopefully, it'll be a while before I can speak to the Silverstar's longevity! ... show more

They only last about a year. But color is good, just a hint of blue so it gives a brighter white look. I don't think most brands last longer so I continue buying these for my Toyota Tundra.

    • Great replacement for your factory bulbs

I bought the SilverStar Ultras to replace the factory bulbs in my brand new 2011 Kia Sorento SX. The difference is amazing! The light is much whiter and brighter than the OEM bulbs. Also, I can see much further down the road and the left and right side of the road is now illuminated. Installation took about 5 minutes on my vehicle. I just made sure to wear gloves and to not touch the bulb (so as not to get oil on the glass). I've heard some people having problems with the life of this bulb. I guess I will wait and see how long they last. So far it's been 3 months with nary a problem. ... show more

Bulb quality is great no flickering. They haven’t burnt out yet. They look nice. The color of the light at night is kind of like a white so it makes the road very visible. These ARE hot bulbs and WILL burn out more quickly than cooler OEM bulbs. This purchase was to replace a set of PIAA Extreme White bulbs I installed in 2006 -- seven and a half years ain't half bad. So, the clock's ticking and we'll see if they hold up. The one inviolable rule is DON'T TOUCH THE BULB WITH YOUR BARE HANDS. Use a pair of disposable powder-free gloves to open the package and install the bulbs; take care not to goop the bulb with grime while inserting the bulb also. ... show more

These are not for hi beam applications. I made the same mistake twice now. They are only good for low beam in projector lenses. Great quality but low beam only.
