Luggage these days just isn't built like they used to. My grandparents had those behemoth suitcases – heavy, thick plastic that seemed to last a lifetime. Mine? It's heavier, sure, but that weight inspires a sense of confidence. However, having seen the carnage firsthand, I'm not entirely convinced it can't be defeated by sheer force. One feature I really appreciate is the expandable compartments. A couple of extra inches can be a lifesaver when those souvenir-induced packing sprees hit. It's been a while since I've owned luggage with this feature, and let me tell you, it's a welcome addition. The hardware on this set is top-notch. Everything – zippers, latches, handles – is securely sewn in, radiating an air of built-to-last quality. The wheels and handles seem equally robust. I have no qualms about their ability to handle the rigors of travel. The plastic itself feels substantial – heavier than most suitcases on the market, I'd wager. But therein lies my hesitation. While it feels built to last, recent experiences have instilled a healthy dose of skepticism. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if I could put my foot through it with enough force. That's a sobering thought. The set comes with three pieces in various sizes, which nest beautifully for storage. The smallest is a shoo-in for any overhead compartment, while the middle one is perfect for week-long trips (for most people, at least). The largest is our designated "family vacation" suitcase, perfect for wrangling the packing needs of two not-so-light-packing daughters. Standard 2 - 2.5 inch wheel covers won't work here. They'll simply fall off. There are adhesive tread covers available, but their effectiveness is debatable. Very attractive 3 Piece Expandable Hardside Suitcases by SwissGear. The exterior is a hard ABS plastic shell, there are 2 hand grips (on the top and side), a telescoping handle and 360° spinner wheels. All suitcases open to 2 equal sized compartments – one side has elastic straps to hold down clothing or packing cubes. The opposite side has a zippered mesh panel closure for the compartment. There is one zippered pocket attached at the hinge between the 2 compartments but sadly that is the only pocket in each suitcase. This is a nice set of luggage and a good value for the cost but this is a basic set of luggage that is missing some of the features of other luggage sets – built in TSA locks, a USB port to hook up a power bank, a fold-up drink holder and many more pockets for travel essentials. Overall this is a solid set of suitcases but for a little bit more $$ you can get a few more great travel features. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. These expandable suitcases are lightweight. I love how each luggage expands up to 2 inches. The round zippers are for enlarging the bags. Moreover, they nest inside each other like nesting dolls and save space. The wheels spin very well and glide around so easily. The handles also slide up easily and lock into place smoothly. They have feet to place them down on their sides. The handles are flat and flexible. My only gripe is that these do not have built-in TSA locks. I was expecting locks at this price.
